Your Next Upgrade? (Part 1)

Seek and ye shall find. Utah has a lot to offer for the outdoors adventurer. Personaly I’d prefer hiking Utah, than visiting Utah stereo salons, or Wilson Audio for that matter. Not knocking Wilson, I just like to hike.

I am using an Achromat 3mm with the installed Alpheta 3 MC. I like it a lot, and yes, set aside the felt dust magnet.

Thanks Vince, I’ll look into it. Our oldest daughter just returned from her explorers journey in the southwest, August through January. I don’t believe she engaged any tour guides. Our Youngest daughter is scheduled for Scotland early spring this year. She’s still working out the details.

Eilean Donan is a few miles from the bridge to Skye, which most Americans know as the source of Talisker whisky.

We spent a week up there in 2021 and as long as you take your lens cap off, you’ll get a decent picture.

It’ll be horrible weather in the morning and you’ll be swimming from a sandy beach in the evening.

I like a nice walk as well. Done a few in my time.

Is 3mm the thickness of the mat? That sounds a tad thick to me  I do have a cork mat and a couple of mats from Origin Live. I should try them.

Schotland is a beautiful country!

Talisker, a fine whiskey and a favorite here.

Yes, 3 mm and it may be accommodated on the Planar 8 IME.

My wife and I had contemplated a return in 2020 or possibly 2021, and the COVID-19 hit. We may return next year, 2023.

If you like lodges, this is a lovely one.

You can see it on the left hand side of this pic, sticking out from behind some trees, from the hill just to the south.

Thanks!

It’s quite nice at the top. The weather is of course like this every day of the year.

Braemar is quite convenient for the whisky trail. Did it 35 years ago.

The longest walk I ever did in Scotland was the Lairig Guru, 20 miles from Braemar to Coylum Bridge, only to be done in the spring or summer. It’s absolutely spectacular, but a lot of boulders. If you like walking, not to be missed.

Beautiful, and I will share this with Erin.

This hiking discussion reminds me of a famous Eddy Merckx quote: “Don’t buy upgrades, ride up grades”

Scotland was glaciated, it is also some of the oldest land on the planet, so the hills are mostly very gentle and not very high, but there is a lot of loose stone and boulders. Skye has some proper climbing. The Walkhighlands website is brilliant as every walk and all relevant details are listed.

I’ve been to lots of places, but Scotland is really up there at the top. Mind you, this was quite nice, if a little tiring. Not a hifi store in sight, or a nip of whisky for that matter.

The Whisky Trail is a popular tourist thing, the tour numbers are limited, so booking is essential. Fortunately they have the internet in Scotland.

Good for you!

In December 2019 We booked tickets with the family to visit our friends in Texas, where we used to live during my USA Expat period. Then COVID hit, KLM could not refund. So we rescheduled multiple times. 1.5 years later they did not want to reschedule anymore and refund the tickets (charging more for new tickets to eventually get us there). I requested to talk to a manager and asked them if they thought it was fair keeping my money hostage for 1.5 years without paying rent and then wanting to play that trick to have us paid for new, more expensive tickets. The manager had to agree with me that it wasn’t fair and had us rescheduled for the fourth time to our date of choice this spring. It was great to go back and see our friends.

All in all KLM proofed to be our worthy primary choice to fly again.

Beautiful picture. Those sticks with cloth banners remind me of pictures from the Himalaya though.
