Amazing looking system.
I believe it. My understanding is (depending on where the troughs and peaks are in your room) this vertical alignment will also help smooth out the overall mid-bass and bass response curve.
Since the Bass Towers are pretty much set, depending upon how far back you are from HF transducers, you might mess around with scooching the L&R speakers even further into the room. I have had good luck with keeping my speakers apart from each other such that the distance between the center of the HF drivers is somewhere between 80 to 85% the distance that they are from my nose in my seating position.
FWIW/Enjoy.
Thanks Paul.
…so when is PS Audio going to come out with a reference quality Integrated amplifier?Enquiring minds want to know.
For the other members, what should a person be looking at to get similar quality sound from an integrated amplifier to compare with the BHK separates gear?
A few years ago, I implemented Master Set speaker setup procedure, which I used also for the Dynaudio’s. The basis for this setup was to couple the bass frequencies of the speakers to the room. When I introduced subwoofers into the mix, I placed them around the setup of the speakers optimum bass coupling. This in my opinion(in my setup/room), now is wrong once subwoofers are introduced to the mix.
When I changed my setup to move the subwoofers inside my speakers and did placement tuning, the stacks ended up right where my mains were, which landed exactly where the Master Set speaker setup procedure had the most even bass response. My previous position for the stacks was good, but still not optimal as I was getting a (measured with REW) low 30’s response hump and a slight dip in 50-100 region. I now get an even response in the 50-100 region, but slight loss in extension below 30Hz which I’m ok with.
As far as your placement suggestion, I was at that listening triangle before, but now am at pretty much an equilateral triangle. Which coincidentally was the same triangle as I had when I owned my previous Magnepan 20.7’s. Go figure.
Thanks Scott for your insight too.
Excellent. Sounds like (no pun intended) you are dialed in.
Equilateral points don’t generate the proper soundstage (speaker disappearing act) with my kit /room.
Best to let your own ears be the final arbiter.
Cheers.
Less is often more with LF for pleasing, “clean” bass response; mid-bass and lower mid frequency response is where the magic happens (at least to my ears).
Given that my Bryston SP3 is losing its marbles, I’ve placed an order for a McIntosh MX123, sight unseen and sound unheard. My primary consideration is analog pass through for my Directstream Mk 1. Wish me luck and happy listening.
On a whim yesterday, I replaced the stock dc cable on my SR Tranquility Pod Carbon with a diy Mundorf SGW cable. It’s already having more of an impact than I expected, despite the SGW wire needing a good 2-300 hours. Really nice, palpable images, a bit of extra width, and better bass. Unfortunately that was the last of the SGW I had on hand, so the second incoming pod will just have to suffer.
I’m also going to try out the purple/gold tuning disc things. Should make for hours of interactive fun.
I installed Synergistic Atmosphere SX Euphoria speaker, XLR and high current AC cables in my system upgrading from the earlier Atmosphere UEF and X series cables. SX is a significant upgrade. A big eye opener was upgrading the UEF Level 2 AC cord on my Uptone Audio JC-2 LPS for my Roon Nucleus+. Youuuuge improvement there, capped by loading the final Massive firmware.
I’m a very happy boy!!!
I ordered Iconoclast OFE jumpers to replace the OEM ones that came with the Aspen FR-20s and match the OFE Series I am using from the BHK250.
This week traded in the beloved DS for mk2. Have had so much enjoyable time with DS. The experience of the sonic performance bettered each time with Ted’s magical firmware update was amazing! This latest mk2 firmware release could be just the beginning of wonderful things for mk2 journey and more to come.
uses similar technology of your speakers, narrowing tubes to dissipate resonance
And early reflections. Those are nasty!
That’s the improved 2.5i version. It makes a more holographic presentation.
That’s clearly the Susaphonic LFE (Low Frequency Enhancer) SX. Though its improvements will not end at just the bass frequencies. The latest generation U-E-umph also promises a 20% more effective upper-body workout.
CAUTION - Handle with care! Do not drop!
Your Synergistic Research Susaphonic LFE SX is a sturdy design, but can be damaged if dropped. Please Handle With Care!
WARNING: Electrical Grounding
The Synergistic Research Susaphonic LFE SX requires a properly grounded outlet for optimal performance and safety. If you are not certain if your electrical configuration is properly grounded, have it inspected by a qualified electrician.
The new 1.5-meter Neotech The Amazon-ITX has finally arrived.
Thanks to this cable I will be able to connect the entire system using silver cables.
I will also test the new Massive.
Is this a USB, i2s or RCA connection? My experience with silver is long breaking in period. The only place I never found the right silver cable is for Ethernet the ohno silver has less grain boundaries and should be noticeably different.
https://wp.neotechcable.com/amazon/
Here you can find their entire range of cables.
Consider that Amazon is their flagship but other even cheaper cables have, in my opinion, an exceptional quality/price ratio.
The one in the photo is an ITX (XLR).
Amazon-P = Power
Amazon-SP = Speaker
Amazon-ITX (XLR)
I also got a power cable.
