Hello posters and readers out there!
I am recently retired and reviewing my ancient audio setup. I prefer to drive the system from a Windows notebook computer (currently using MediaMonkey Pro) via a USB cable to a DAC, etc…
That quickly cuts out many brands and/or models that do not seem to embrace USB output to an external DAC energetically (or even at all!).
Hi Res has really evolved since I last looked at upgrading, like twenty years ago!! We are looking forward to listening to how it can sound, especially DSD256.
All our CDs were ripped years ago and that has allowed me to become very track focused rather than album focused. MMP allows me to write “Auto Playlists” which are a recipe to choose tracks according to my needs at the time. These are not static lists of tracks. I can tweak tempo or genre or mood or rating at any time and the list will adapt; and of course to include any new tracks added to the library that also fit. Many many optional parameters are available to set and to tweak. I love it.
