Building a system for a friend, an affordable one, any recommandation? max 2000$

Good day,

just finish building a Fosi all in (phono+DAC+integrated+denon link (streamer) to match his speaker) system for a friend, I rcmd investing in the Fosi sold Burson Opamp V, more tube sound and warm.

now, I am building a second one for a friend, max 2000$ used.

So far, on used market, i found:

  • Technics Turntable Sl1700 semi automatic turntable (included the 52mm gabarit to swap cartridge if he wish)
  • Grado Black cartridge (moving iron/induce magnet).
  • Yamaha CA-600 Amplifier, integrated with 2 phono entry
    • moving iron or induce magnet (adjustable at 30, 50 or 100 Ohms (perfect match Grado)
    • Moving magnet
  • Castle Clyde Bookshelf
  • DAC, need help?

I am thinking about a Cambridge transport use + Dac magic, but i never heard the cambridge but it seems, like a good start?

he doesn’t want: wiim; bluenode; evermolo; etc. He want a real DAC for TV; CD player; DVD player? there the Fosi, but since I already set up that for our minimalist friend that work good on power surge, he is not happy about the idea of streaming and use his old apple computer instead for that purpose (in fact a streamer is a computer without the fuss of managing it).

What would you suggest?

and you, if you have to build an affordable system for a friend for 2000$ all in, what would you suggest, base on you HiFi history purchase? might also help newbies!

thanks for helping!

ps since, I help him, transfert his cd on a hardrive, any suggestion for a NAS?

I am replacing this, his is a Juliette pickup, he call that all in one:

Yup, we are far from Ps Audio gear here!
