Sorry if this is a silly question, but I have a lead on a NAD C 516BEE for cheap and was wondering if running the optic digital out on this would be turning it into a transport instead of a player. Just sending the digital signal into the DAC of my SGCD? Not sure how that really works. I have a bunch of CD’s I’d like to play, but want to transport signal to the DAC. Or should I just rip them to Audivarna?
Yes, you’ve got it right. Personally, I have ripped all of mine BUT it takes a fair bit of work or money or both for a server to equal or surpass many transports.
Do you intend to keep purchasing CDs or do you see streaming more in your future? I would let the dominant one guide the purchase of a transport or not and your disposable income
I may get into streaming in the near future, but it would be nice to play my cd’s as well. The NAD I can get for $150, so it’s not a great hardship.
For sure, get it. You’ll be able to sell for that in the future and if not, not a big loss
