Yeah exactly. I’m still getting around to trying the whole ‘Bridging’ thing from the start of the thread - I was waiting to see where my digital path settled components wise before attempting that undertaking.
I dip back into the thread a couple months later and it’s taken a complete different (but fascinating) direction. And yeah, another curveball from Romaz with the direct USB thing.
I’m personally waiting to hear how they get on with a modded SU-1 before I decide whether to risk any funds on ‘reclocking’. Who knows, by then they might have moved onto a new direction altogether

Hey Alan
Ha! Yeh that thread is one big roller coaster ride for sure. After the ethernet bridging thing caught fire (I found it to be an improvement also), then fiber optic converters took over. And then later the consensus came full circle - ethernet bridging is the better than fiber.
It seems the popularity of the modded SU-1 has remained quite steady, now with the ISO REGEN or SMS-200 Ultra feeding it being the premier inputs. An ISO REGEN powered by the LPS-1 and the SU-1 also powered by another LPS-1 seems to be pretty good. But yeh I have seen the recent upgrades with the SOtM clocks make another improvement. Eep !
Have you seen Rob’s ‘Epitome’ Hybrid USB/Ethernet GB LAN chain?
"PC(WIN10 on ext SSD powered by LT3045/LPS)>JB(modded to VBUS blocker)>LH Labs 2G (data leg to JB/PC - power to LT3045)>LEX(powered by LT3045/LPS)>BJC CAT6a>REX(powered by LPS)>JB(modded to VBUS blocker)>2G(data leg only)>RuR(powered by LT3045/LPS)>iDefender>iPur2>F-1.
Important: Music files played from SLC mSD card (USB 3.0 adapter) in the REX or 256GB USB sticks.
That’s it. I have another 20VDC LT3045 coming to use on the REX. Hopefully a bit of a step up.
Other possible improvements ISO Regen in lieu of the RuR. Matrix SPDIF-2 in lieu of the F-1."
He’s also been through HEAPS of gear too and all his observations have been just as interesting as romaz and the others.
But the look on my face at the constant new directions is often like yours -
