Forced out of this hobby that I've enjoyed for 50 years

They are Alexia 2’s. They have amazng synergy with Esoteric electronics.

I remember some years ago, my dealer The Auible Difference in Palo Alto, Ca. eagerly showed me the then JM Labs Utopia Scala with the inverted dome tweeters, and I was quite impressed with the sound. Very full bodied and big sounding speakers. I heard no brightness, only music. I haven’t heard the new Scala Evo, so I don’t know the new sound from these speakers, but I would assume they should outperform the older models. I suspect there is a mismatch with your other equipment in your system.

The speakers are the mismatch.

I am an owner of Sopra 2. Very similar in the upper range. They are extremely sensitive to electronics. Way more than a soft dome tweeter. you have to match EVERYTHING, right down to the cables. Silver interconnects and especially speaker cables..no way.

And even matched right, some still find them bright. But that’s this hobby. I still feel if the OP heard what the can do and liked them. So there is an opportunity. But seems he does not want to sink any more money into this endeavor. We all have our limits.

If that is the case, I would try to get what I can reselling the Focal’s, and try out the Aspen FR20’s or FR30’s.

My 2 cents!
This ain’t rocket science! :rocket:
Keep them, sell them or gift them!

are you familiar or own the Aspen FR20’s? or FR30’s?

If I recall, there have been a number of FR10-20-30s owners who have posted on your threads about their satisfaction with the Aspens (myself included). Also, folks have stated that the synergy with PS Audio gear is superb. You even mentioned earlier that you “should have” purchased Aspens but were worried about the expense of having to pay return shipping if you didn’t like them.

I could be very wrong, but I get the impression you are going round in circles perpetually. I know not why.

Only by what other’s reviews, and I have great respect for the other member’s assessments these speakers in this forum. Check out PS Audio’s free trial and return policies.

I have owned the FR20’s for 3 years, and have repeatedly mentioned that purchasing the FR20’s was one of my best audio decisions. Not only do I not have regrets, I have no desire for any other speakers. They sound great with lesser gear, but start matching the FR20’s to upper level gear and they continue to impress even more.

I wish I had done what you did. Now if I could only dump the Focals.

Or stumble upon a time machine.

Or a winning lottery ticket.

This is getting to be like a never-ending colonoscopy!

With no insurance coverage!

I’d welcome the time machine or lottery win options . . . for non-speaker reasons.

Plenty of legitimate suggestions here for OHP. Time to love it or list it.

Chill out its only been 17 days,… although I have enjoyed reading everyone’s advice and possible machinations.

It’s like a soap opera! Some really do like to watch those

I refer to my system as The Time Machine. It’s because I read a piece written by a noted audio reviewer, whose name I can’t recall. A nonaudiophile friend visited him and had no idea what he did for a living. He told him he was reviewing a $12,000 turntable. His friend exclaimed, "that’s a lot of money for a record player. He replied, “but it seems like a good deal for a Time Machine”.
