I think you need to install the minimstreamer package as that is where you set the transcoding. You do it from within minimserver.
That is correct, although I believe you install MinimStreamer from MinimWatch, as there is no other way (of which I am aware) to access MinimServer when it is installed on a Melco. See paragraphs 16 and 19 of the instructions here: http://minimserver.com/install-melco.html
Works like a charm! Thanks for your help.
Hi, I’m running a Melco N1A into DS Senior via B2, with Minimserver installed so I can play DSD. Controlling via MConnectHD on an IPad. All works really well, sound quality superb.
However, at the beginning of pretty much every listening session, everything looks fine on MConnectHD, bridge is present and selected, Melco/Minimserver is visible and I can search library and select albums/songs. But nothing plays, it seems to try and play but immediately I get the play symbol, rather than pause (as if it was playing). I then power the DS off and back on, from the power switch on the rear, everything starts up again and I can play music. No glitches for as long as I want to play.
Soft power down of DS from remote doesn’t work, restarting of app on iPad doesn’t work. Restarting of minimserver doesn’t work.
I’ve checked software/firmware versions on DS and all are latest.
Has anyone got any suggestions to fix this?
Many thanks, Mike.
Hi Mike. First, congrats on picking up a B2 and also on installing MinimServer on your Melco.
Now, onto the playback glitch you described … What version of the B2 firmware are you running?
I have essentially the identical digital front-end and I am running v2.9.14 of the B2 firmware.
If you have a B2 firmware version below v2.9.14, I would start by updating your B2 firmware and see if that fixes the playback glitch.
You can probably get the B2 firmware via e-mail from Dennis at PS Audio, but I may still have it in my e-mail from Dennis. If you PM me with your e-mail address and I can locate the firmware, I would e-mail it to you.
Hi guys! I’m kinda new to this topic and I would appriciate your help. I got my Melco NZh1 v.2 controlled on my iPad with Esoteric app. My problem is that I can’t stream music from my Melco to Bridge II of my PSa Direct Stream DAC.I can stream only through USB . I can’t get it work through ethernet no matter what I do. I tried all the settings on Melco and as soon as I try to stream through ethernet connection it disappears as player from the app. Could you please explain to me what am I doing wrong. Thanks in advance
I presume the Esoteric app (looking exactly like /is (?) the Lumin app) does not recognize BridgeII. See this topic:
@mickeyb Hi, I agree with @wijber that you need to use an app which recognizes the Bridge II. I use Bubble UPnP and Hi-Fi Cast (both Android). Good luck.
Thanks guys! Figured it out. MConnect does the job. Neather the Lumin nor the Esoteric and the Arcam apps recognizes the Bridge II.
Is there a significant audible difference in streaming through USB and ethernet in your setuls? I can’t hear significant defference. I’m using WireWorld Platinum USB cable and WW Starlight 7 RJ45 cable.
Hi, yes, but I run a Melco HA-N1ZH60 Mk. 1, which does not have the enhanced USB output on your Mk. 2. Also, while Ethernet generally beats USB in my system, I find that the DS’s I2S input is clearly the best of the three. I come out of the Melco via USB, into a Matrix X-SPDIF 2, and out of the Matrix via I2S into the DS.
The I2S uses a standart hdmi cable?
Hi, yes, that is correct.
That is correct.
Hi! Do you have to install a driver for the Matrix x spdif2 on the Melco?
Hi, no, it was plug and play!
