How much would a turntable cost that would beat the DSD MkII?

I remember hearing a 4K turntable setup blow the doors off a top of the line Accuphase DAC and transport years ago. Wondering if this still holds true now. Can a modest turntable setup still sound better than a digital rig costing many multiples more?

Seems like comparing apples to zebras, to me…but it is an interesting way of considering the value proposition of source choices…

Putting aside the inconvenience factor of turntables, I still think vinyl out performs a digital rig of the same cost in terms of sound quality.

That’s interesting. At first glance that might appear to be true but there is more costs involved than just the turntable. Costs add up quickly on the on the turntable side. Of course that would include the turntable itself plus cartridge and arm but also a phono stage and preamp and associated cables. A digital system might just be the DAC, a digital source and cabling. It would be a interesting exercise.

A question that can’t be answered to universal satisfaction. There are those who favor the corporeal characteristics of vinyl. There are those who favor the dynamic traits of digital.
What makes one sit and listen and enjoy without overthinking wins.
$500.

I’m greedy. I want both. To me, some recordings sound better on vinyl and vice versa. With a budget, I’d split and get both. I will say in general, vinyl hobby can be more expensive due to the cost of records!! IMO

Oh yeah the records. Too bad I got rid of all my records when I got sucked into perfect sound forever.
