I am looking to get out of 128 land and thinking of an I2s converter. Considering the Sonore and the Matrix, I imagine they do about or exactly the same thing, so from those that have used both, which should I be looking at and how is one different that the other?
Thanks

I owned both at different times and heard zero difference. Even used a Farad power supply with the matrix and USB buss power with the Sonore. I may not be a good judge, didn’t hear much difference between USB and I2S inputs on the mki.

hmmmm…very interesting…I used and Rendu I think it was called to treat USB and I didnt hear a difference there.
thank you
I assume you were using dsd files. did you hear no difference between 128 and 256?
I bought a used Matrix for DSD files via Roon and you have to do some fenagling in Roon to get the PS Audio DAC to display DSD instead of DOP. Great little box and a great deal used.
I haven’t used roon in quite a while so I won’t have any of those specific issues. I went from roon to audirvanna on a mac mini and now Im using an Astell & Kern Dap straight to the DSD bypassing the Astell’s dac. I will probably go for a used matrix, but before I did I wanted to get opinions on how the Sonore Ultra Digital compares.
The Matrix you had or have was it or is it the first one or the second one?
Thanks

I received the Matrix. Quite incredible. I thought honestly, "how could my sound be better/', and it is once again. Now I need to find an LPS.
