I’m very interested in the solution of connecting JCAT NET card to Bridge II directly. Can you please kindly share how to set up the connection (assign static IP address to NET card and Bridge II?) and how to control data to be transmitted to Bridge II (can Bridge II be selected as output device in player software say Jriver?)?
In this configuration, is PC able to connect to internet? Since Net card has two ethernet port, is it possible to connect one port to internet and the other to Bridge II?
I realized I probably was not clear. I am absolutely using a Jcat Femto USB in my server. Although there are even better cards to be had apparently. The Jcat suits me fine though. For the price it is an incredible upgrade. You simply cannot use USB from your motherboard. No wonder people think the Matrix is better. They never heard proper USB.
I think you will have to connect the JCAT and he BridgeII both to a router or switch. You can contact the maker of the JCAT by email and he will respond in a day or two. I think he is in Russia or Poland. I can’t remember and am too lazy to look.
He is in Poland. Here is a tutorial, assuming you use windows. Just ignore the drive sharing parts, and that the Bridge as the second computer, assigning static is addresses.
You can search the net for other tutorials - search for direct Ethernet connection
Thank you for the quick response! I found that NET card can be connected to both internet and DAC at the same time using the two RJ45 ports respectively, it is one of the recommended scenarios.
Thanks for the picture. I did not know you could use both ports like that. I have a JCAT Femto card in my Pink Faun but have it connected to a Ether Regen switch for Qobuz streaming. This system does not have a BridgeII installed in the DS DAC.
I am not sure the connection I wrote to you will work in this scheme. For this to work, I think you may have to bridge both NIC ports, for they to act as a switch.
Yes, that is my guess too, it should be set to bridge (like virtual switch), so DS can stream from the PC and at the same time can be found/controlled through network.
I already sent an email to JCAT, I will share their feedback once I receive it.
