Though it should be noted, if I understood Ted correctly, even if we upsample before the DS/DSJ in Roon or HQP, the DAC still does its upsampling routine no matter what… and the main interest with HQP are its filters and dither settings, though HQP can upsample as well.

Yes, that is my understanding, as well, though I believe that pre-DS sample rate conversion to 352.8k reduces the amount of SRC performed by the DS (and whether that is a good thing sonically is a matter of personal choice).
