Matrix X-SPDIF 2

I tried the Jitterbug a few years ago without the Matrix. Same results: It choked the notes.

I still have a Jitterbug in a drawer somewhere at home. I tried it a variety of ways with and without Matrix, but unfortunately I didn’t care for it at all.

Jitterbug with Matrix actually makes the sound worst. Drys out the sound. But Ifi iPurifier 3 makes a remarkable improvement with the Matrix. No kidding, and cost only $129.

My Jitterbug was a must pre Matrix. After adding the Matrix, it choked some of the low notes, but it was very subtle. I removed it altogether, glad to have one less component in the chain.

Welcome @Slowe

Hi, Slowe!

Hi chris5,
What kind of Jitterbug? can you specify it?
I did not find it in this thread coz there’re so many posts…
I’m from Matrix Audio and I wish we can make some improvements.

What is the best usb for the Matrix ?
The Shunyata Sigma usb ?
The Chord Sarum T usb ?
Something else ?

What is the best hdmi for the matrix ?
Is it the popular RAL ?
Or the Audioquest Diamond ?
Or (hopefully not!) the new super expensive Audioquest Dragon 48 ?
Or something else ?

I use Siltech Classic Anniversary USB. Exceptional sound and totally noise free.

These come up used at good prices occasionally.

A classic, and not very far from Belgium :belgium:, the land of Bruno Putzeys (class D), Rubens, Cesar Franck, Adolphe Sax (jazz) and Hercule Poirot

My personal experience is the Sigma is the king as is the RAL. The top of the line Stealth Audio USB can stand with the Sigma. I haven’t tried the V2 Sigma yet but I am guessing it would top all of the above.

I took many steps along the way to this conclusion.

RAL usb or hdmi ?
If Hdmi, have you tried the new AQ dragon hdmi, which is triple the cost of the RAL ?
Please don’t tell me that it’s better

The Dragon is the new flagship HDMI cable from AQ. The Diamond is no longer available from Audioquest so if you find one in stock with a supplier that’s the last of the Diamonds. I believe the Firebird is the replacement for the Diamond HDMI which is the model below the Dragon. I have not heard the newer HDMI 48 cables but I was told they are available for purchase.

Sigma USB, RAL HDMI.
I tried a RAL USB and it did nothing for me.
I don’t use any Audioquest products. I used to but learned other sources are better.

Hi @aangen - I looked up the Shunyata website and couldn’t find any reference to the “V2 Sigma” USB. Do you have a link?
Cheers,
Phil
