I set up the Matrix last night and was impressed. I’ll elaborate on what I hear after a few days listening. I’m fortunate to own 2 Uptone LPS-1 power supplies. I’m not springing for the LPS-1.2 at this point. Anyway, I have a microrendu feeding the Matrix. So, without an external power supply, the Matrix would be powered from this. So, is it really wise for both of these components to be powered from one supply? The Microrendu was heating up and the answer was obvious to me. I’m using one LPS-1 for the Microrendu and the other for the Matrix. YMMV but I’m sticking to this setup. I like overkill and headroom in audio. LOL
The IfI is awful at letting in tons of AC leakage current.
I much prefer low noise linear power supplies which in general have a level of magnitude less AC leakage by design.
I power mine through the usb, but use an UpTone Audio LPS 1.2. I haven’t compared to other PSs but man as a whole it sounds v. good. I wont be taking it out anytime soon.
Uptone ISO Regen with LPS 1.2 is very good at removing (if not eliminating) leakage. I would be interested to learn if others are using this config to power the MATRIX and what their observations are on sound quality powering the MATRIX through the USB input.
I ordered a Matrix yesterday. Ships in about 10 days as they are back ordered, and they gave me the Chinese New Year sale price of 10% off.
I’m debating between Bootzilla’s Amazon OneConvey $10 HDMI or something Iike the AudioQuest Mocha which is on sale at Music Direct for 60% off, its similar to the Coffee, both have the 72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS), FWIW. Matrix Audio says the Bootzilla Amazon HDMI is really good and that they don’t see much improvement using more expensive cables. But the audiophile in me thinks a $500 HDMI cable must sound better. Thoughts?
Using Nordost Valhalla 2 for HDMI cable…
Where did u order from? Did u call or just do it online?
I’m wondering about USB over Ethernet. There are drivers for Mac that make an ethernet-attached device accessible from USB-output. Then plug in an Ethernet-to-USB connector, and the Matrix should take it as input.
Has anyone tried this approach?
That’s the USA distributor. Arthur is the owner, I asked via email for the 10% off Chinese New Year price because they ran out of stock. He created a coupon for me. Then ordered online.
Shoot - I thought I had a solution for remote Roon core over Ethernet to the Matrix.
I set my Android tablet USB to Audio source, then started Roon Remote. Sure enough, the Pixel C showed up as a networked output device in Roon core settings, but when I clicked Device Settings, The Max Sample Rate (PCM) was limited to 96kHz and 24 bit.
I may buy a USB-C to Printer cable just to see if tablet-USB-DSD works.
It’s another conversion that typically would be best avoided but if it sheds some would-be transferred electron junk, why not?
An argument against, It’s another dongly thing, and probably another power supply too…if you have the space and plan it like @cardri, no sweat.
Have you tried Roon or HQP(e) DSD-PCM conversion? I live happily with 192/32 max and would be fine with 96/24 if that’s all my output supported but I only have 3 DSD tracks.
I presently stream Qobuz hi-res to the Bridge, so there’s a lot of tracks that would have to be down-converted.
I’d prefer to not have a tablet or Mac sitting on top of the DSD running Roon Core, but could wind up that way.
I bought two of those Audioquest Mocha HDMI cables from Music Direct. They are good cables both for audio and video. They were an improvement over my a few years old Wireworld Chroma 6. Haven’t tried any of the newer Wireworld HDMI cables, so can’t compare.
Welcome, everyone, to the club!

Lol. Nice bootzilla
I wanted to say that I’ve listened a lot over the last 24 hours since setting up the Matrix in my system, and I can only say that this little box was the best $300 or so I’ve spent in a long time. It definitely moved my digital sound to the next level.
I want others to try it, even though it’s sold out at present. You won’t be sorry!
Thanks to Bootzilla and others in this thread. -Great information and advice.
Any benefit of the Matrix between a music server and DSJr? I assume that most of you are using the Matrix between your computer and a USB DAC such as DSSr or DSJr. Any of you are using the Matrix between a music server and the DSSr or DSJr? I am currently using the Melco Audio N1A music server connected to DSJr/Bridge II through ethernet cable, would like to try the USB connection. Thanks.
John. So what did it do? And … what was your before matrix setup and cabling?
