I have it in both ears; have for years. I’ve learned to listen through it. Although I loose a quiet triangle or soft jingle bells at times. ![]()
I’ve had tinnitus in both ears for so long, I can’t remember what a quiet moment sounds like. To make matters worse, the frequencies and volume levels are different for each ear.
Living in a noisy city makes it somewhat less noticeable…sometimes. My new hearing aids help to ameliorate some issues, but there is always a trade off.
So I’m back to using my dual bay Synology NAS again. I bought 2 new Toshiba N300 Pro 10T HHD’s using SHR with no backup for the performance. I do backup on a different drive. I also installed over 300 gb into the SSD cashe drive. For hookup to the streamer, I am using WW Platinum 8 ethernet cable. Power cord for the drive, I am using a WW platinum 7 cord. Took over a day downloading over 2T of music. The problem with my dual bay 8T Samsung SSD unit fed with a Valhalla2 USB cable is the more files I install, the slower the loading of the files and cover arts to the Lumin App. Then it also started developed glitches and dropouts sometimes when playing music. It didn’t do that before with lesser files installed. The sound is still excellent though.
Now with the Synology, files and cover arts loads instantanously and no more glitches and dropouts. What was a pleasant surprise is from these new HHD drives, I really don’t hear much difference in sound quality compared to the SSD drives. If anything, with the HHD drives, the music just feels a little better to my ears, seems to have slightly a little more weight to the sound, but I definately will not pass a blind test on the difference between the two drives. Anyway, very happy with the Synology for now.
