+1 to giving it time. What inputs are you using? When I first got my Jr., I did not find the coax input too impressive, better than the Schiit Audio Bifrost 2 I upgraded from but not by much. IME the I2S is the creme de la creme, followed by USB. Playing Kind of Blue in DSD256 through Roon on the Jr. is incredible.
Compared to some other dacs I’ve used the presentation may not be as forward but I wouldn’t say veiled or closed-off. It is a smooth operator through and through. I use my Jr. with headphones, mostly the HD800S.
Does the DS MKII run hot also Ted?
