New PS Audio speakers?

And hoping for some tasty, less expensive trickle down speaker brethren.

As of a few years ago Focal stopped supplying speakers to outside companies…
all Focal drivers stay in house.

Hope that helps

LOL.

I also find this to be “attractive”. The tweeters on my Anthony Gallo Reference 3.1 speakers are a type of piezoelectric film and their ability to nail higher frequencies has won me over and leads me to expect any type of well-executed “film-based” or planar driver to be a winning choice in speaker design.

I expect the FR30s to really image well and shine in the reproduction of the mid to upper frequencies given the choice of drivers.

Time will tell…

Helps what?

Simple question: how will you be able to judge the speaker’s sound quality? It’s not a trick question. I’m asking how you plan to “judge the product,” as you mention. Do you mean just reading reviews and owner comments, or something else? Just trying to understand what you meant. Maybe you meant only those who actually ordered it

This reminds me of Pesci in Goodfellas. ‘Funny …. You find me funny ? Like funny haha …like a clown?’ Lol

I’m not sure PSA has manufactured a $28,000, 250kg product in China before, or a speaker of any description, during a pandemic!

Maybe if you reread what I wrote in its entirety and in the context of the post I responded to, instead of cutting and pasting excerpts and quoting words I did not write you will understand what I wrote.

I believe it was and is self-explanatory.

No, but I’m sure, as here, he has heard multiple times before he began such (probably often successful) undertakings, how difficult they are in whatever way

Your wish is our command. The trickle down pairs will have the exact same lines and use the same drivers. Stay tuned!

I’ll give them my address. They can dump them on my doorstep.

I would love to hear some listening impressions from Paul and team, especially compared to the IRS, and not just general statements like FR-30 wipe the floor with the IRS, or it the best speaker someone ever heard, but more specifics like imaging, sound staging, highs/lows/mids. And if possible compared to other speakers they have around the factory. I saw ZUs, and I"m sure there are others. Yes chances are there will be plenty of superlative in favor of the FR-30, but I like to at least get a flavor of what the sound signature is.

For me the competitors are:
Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition
Focal Sopra 2 (or 3)
Legacy Audio Aeris (closest match in term of tech)

Would love to see a shoot out between those 3 and the FR-30.

And if anyone says best speakers they’ve ever heard, list the other top speakers you’ve heard for context

An interesting comparo would include:

Magico A-5
Martin-Logan ESL 15
Magnepan 20.7
Sanders Model 10
Wilson Yvette

And Spendor D9.2

I think the Maggie 30’s are much closer in price. The 20.7 cost half as much as FR30

The roll out to the market is going to be interesting. With an intractable pandemic, visiting places for audition will be tough. And their ‘White Glove" in-home service will require some real determination on the buyers’ part; the specs indicate 230lbs each (assuming they mean each), so I would hope they arrive on wheels for experiments with positioning. All that said, i’d love to try a pair once we move into our new digs.

I, for one, knew that given the new world circumstance, I’d be spending much more time alone and away from crowds. I was planning on a new system and it seemed like the perfect time to get something much closer to the ideal. I’m pushing close to 4X my original budget now. If there are even 1,000 other audiophiles who share a similar narrative, I’d say chances are pretty good that more people than normal will take notice.

The speakers come in two pieces per pair.

Really don’t think there will be any difficulties…

True, but I was also taking form factor into account - i.e. more or less one box / panel per channel. The Maggie 30’s are a different kettle of fish in that regard.
