Gorgeous!
wait. hang on… you married the person who drew those birds?? Damn! that is insanely good!
It’s more like I found someone who tolerates me and who was also willing to marry me.
Beautiful and meaningful. Lucky fellow.
My wife would agree with you. And for that matter, so do I (she’s a fiber artist).
I heard that green paint is the best for sound when placed around the edges of the room.
If only she designed and built speakers that cost $250 and fit in your nose.
Beautiful!
Hope you find a dealer closer by than London this time.
With the FR30, you could consider to take your BHK amps out of storage and utilize them again. From a sound quality perspective I trust that will provide good system synergy. I would expect that PS Audio utilized the same type of amps to voice the FR30.
With the pair of BHK300 and a BHK250 and the split bass / midrange-high cabinets, you can play around with bi-amping them.
We look forward to your report.
Rudolf, you are behind the times. I no longer own BHKs (two BHK preamps, two BHK250s and pair of BHK300s) I replaced them with a pile of Pass Labs amplifiers. I also use Rega Osiris (4-off) amplifiers. I swap the amps in and out depending on the type of speakers I choose to listen to ‘the benefit of a dedicated listening room with attached workshop’ separate from the rest of the house.
There shouldn’t be a problem hearing the FR30s; UK distributor knows me really well - after all the back and forth with the BHKs!!!
He will ship the FR30s the 500 miles from London to where I live in Scotland. And, there’s a new dealership only 25 miles away from where I live (we have many brick and mortar stores / dealerships in Scotland, they’re on the increase not in decline About | The HiFi Gallery ), opened their doors fairly recently and they stock PS Audio equipment.
It’s really good that dealerships are on the increase.
I did indeed not notice that you have swapped the BHK’s for the Pass Labs. Sounds that you have plenty of options to power the Aspen FR30’s. Since you have 4-off Rega Orisis and maybe also more than 2 Pass Labs, I’d really be curious to learn if Bi-Amping would improve SQ with the FR30’s.
My interest comes from the fact that for years I have driven my Canton speakers Bi-Amped with a single AV Receiver and I have read many different opinions about Bi-Amping.
The Hifi Gallery is:
- well sorted PS Audio dealer
- well sorted Thorens Dealer, the TD1601 is most likely my next upgrade
- not far from GlenRothes
That should make up for happy holidays.
Some don’t like when you discuss dealerships and their upsurge
I think this is very regional related. European cities still have their shopping centers downtown in the wonderful city centers, mixed with all sorts of gastronomy and entertainment it makes shopping a pleasant event. I found it very welcoming that I am able to visit the Audio Dealers while my wife follows her interests and we can mix and match the program however we like.
Also I notice that even our children are getting extremely tired of doing everything on-line.
A visit to physical show room is (will be) a welcome treat in order to go out and do something different.
I am looking forward to it. For valid reasons (my wife is nurse) we have been locked down over the holiday season in The Netherlands again. But we surely do look forward to the end of this craziness.
I’m really jealous. We have one dealer and they seem to only be interested in home theater installations despite carrying a lot of good brands. I went to listen to some speakers and they were broken - I told them and they didnt seem to care. My closest record store sells turntables… from the 1970s and 80’s because they think if you spend any real money on them you are a tool - oh, and they only really sell electronica music. On top of all my favorite restaurants that didn’t make it through lockdown… I am depressed.
I will say though, PS Audio made it possible for me to easily upgrade during lockdown. With the trade-in they give, plus the in-home-trial (and gear that fit in my budget), I am very pleased.
I do not get the sense anyone has a problem with a discussion of dealerships. Rather, as Rudolf notes, whether dealers are disappearing or being added depends on where you live. In some areas dealers are doing OK and new ones appearing; other areas, closing.
What gets annoying is repetitive posting insisting one’s experience is universal and absolute.
Rudolf; Glenrothes (just small r) Wow… that threw me! Why does Glenrothes resonate with you? Ok…What you missed out on historically ‘The HiFi Gallery’ stands on the shore of Loch Leven where Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned in Loch Leven Castle, her only possible means of escape if she was a bloody good swimmer.! I didn’t mention any of this in my previous post as I felt this level of detail was too Stevensegal… ‘then where does it go to’ - boring members with blue wall plaques, £ / $, kilos / Ibs British Imperialism…and, ‘lest we forget’ bathing ablutions… ![]()
Yes, we are indeed very fortunate over here, blessed with some excellent HiFi dealerships.
I am not bothered by some history lessons.
You are correctly surprised. I mixed up The Glenrothes distillery in Aberdeenshire, whom’s Whisky I like, with the village of Glenrothes in Fife. Apparently The Glenrothes Distillery is not in the village of Glenrothes like Washington DC is not in Washington state.
So two lessons learned. Great day!
I have positie experiences with both:
My PS Audio SGCD, NAD integrated amps and Atlas Cables and other bells and whistles are purchased through my dealer Echo Audio in Middelburg. I also purchased directly from Buchardt Audio.
Both great experiences. The only difference is that I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Buchard Audio where I got a great demo.
I do see the sense of many North America based PS Audio customers though. Once you have a great experience with a direct selling manufacturer, you tend to trust that manufacturer in ongoing business. Like with my very positive experience with Buchardt Audio, I would not insist to listen to new products they put on the market prior to paying them and audition at home. Like should Buchard release Subwoofers that sonically and visually match the S400 SE I got, I’d just order one of them, if they are compact and fit behind the couch, maybe even two.
Mind you the Buchard Audio products don’t require 5 figure pre-payments. If I were in the position to drop 5 figure EURO’s on speakers, I’d do the same as with Buchardt Audio. I’d travel to Boulder and ask for a demo at PS Audio. The trip is just a fraction of the tariffs and taxes I’d have to pay and surely a lot of fun.
