New PS Audio speakers?

These speakers are beyond my means financially, yet I’m following this with great interest. As I see it, a successful launch for the speakers is good for the brand and for us all.

I really don’t know why you’re on this forum, you seem to hate PSAudio and only wish them to fail.

You seem to make up any negative comment about these speakers just to suit you wanting them to fail. But none of it is relevant.

Blocking you.

Thanks @Elk, Indeed my post was intended to complement the information of @vkennedy61 with the information for European customers.

And you are very right: my approach is glass half-empt instead of glass half-full. Because I was rather disappointed to have to realise the FR30 were not for me anymore after the numerous increases of sales price estimates. But I trust my posts about the FR30 are not all negative.

Pros:

  • technology
  • knowledgable developers
  • true full range
  • no bass reflex for easier positioning
  • passive radiators generate clean bass, when applied appropriately
  • allowing insight in the development, technology wise it was an interesting ride

Cons, general:

  • carbon footprint (which could be improved by final inspection at manufacturer and direct shipment from manufacturing site)

Cons, for my personal situation:

  • price development, especially after all those tariffs and taxes for EU export
  • size (depth, front is OK)

The taxes and tariffs of European countries is indeed sobering. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to make them go away.

PS Audio plans on introducing smaller speakers. It may turn out these are of interest to you.

That’s nothing we’re not used to since Brexit (and before really).

Very true of course. and we have plenty of taxes in the States as well.

Perhaps at the time PS Audio gained more experience the overseas production and logistics, PS Audio may be able to do something about the prices outside the US.

If the speakers are direct shipped and not passing through multiple countries, the transport costs and tariffs would probably not add up, yet allowing decent margins to earn back the development costs.

Buchardt Audio has a flat price global approach, that I like about them.

Really? I’ve defended the price of the speaker when others were complaining about the price escalation from $6k originally. I’ve stated tube amps could drive the speaker when others said futile. I’ve suggested additions (trade allowance) to the more info post. I’ve explained how they likely had no choice but to manufacture in China during this that dust up. I’ve suggested ways to list the low frequency spec that Chris agreed with and then defended the released spec as clear when others said ambiguous.

You used the word “hate.” If there is any of that it is directed towards anyone who posts a divergent view.

I suggested if the thread isn’t positive enough start posting reasons why you’re positive about them. Why is that wrong?

There are many pros and cons about the EU. The biggest advantages: it kept peace in Europe and eliminated the gigantic amount of tariffs and different regulations in between the different member states.

On the other hand the tendency of micro management of many departments. Although being one Europe, that does not mean that we do not have cultural differences and a history. That can not be wiped out by some ignorant law makers in Brussels.

Bottom line is that many member countries of the EU are sad UK left, especially The Netherlands. We’d love to continue to trade with the UK without tariffs and separate certifications. But that is history, so sad really.

Totally agree on all fronts. Europeans in general are allies, I would consider any nation in europe as my brethren, but then I’d consider most nations on Earth as my brethren and friends. I’m a bit of a hippy, even if there is history, I’ll judge a person by who they are, not by where they come from, or religious affiliation or anything like that.

I guess it’s one of the wonderful things that AA teach you, try to focus on the person and their actions rather than resorting to my defaults where I judge everyone before I’ve even met them.

I will always be European, I’ve never considered myself British.

By the same logic, if your wife does not like the speakers, change wife!
Ever considered that some, at least, people may have already invested a substantial sum in an existing system? Are you one of those for whom 15ķ more or 15k less for changing the amp? If so, good for you. However, if the question was not relevant to your situation, why bother saying anything?

Folks are getting:
Definition of testy

1 : easily annoyed : irritable

2 : marked by impatience or ill humor

Why are folks getting testy here?

  1. Ongoing global pandemic?

  2. Holiday with family?

  3. People don’t know how they appear online and think that tone in their head comes through?

All of the above?

It is audio folks, not something important like picking a color for painting the kitchen.

hang on… is that paint going to affect the sound?

I admit it’s handy being married to an Architect/Interior Designer/Artist. All I have to say is “that looks great”, and the color conversation is pretty much over.

Yes, as long as you cover it with acoustic treatments, bookcases, wall mounted pot racks, and art work. They you’ll be fine.

This would be great. I can offer an opinion between good and bad once it is done, but I find making the decisions of what to do difficult.

A long time ago, I thought I might have an opinion of some value and then I met the woman who was to be my wife. As in many things, there’s a lot of talent and experience behind choosing colors, fabrics, and finish materials. Over the years we’ve had a variety of wall finishes from simple paint to venetian plaster. Many of which would have never occurred to me, all of them were beautiful. It’s a vernacular unto itself.

Here’s the Christmas present she gave to me this year. It’s watercolor, colored pencil, and ink. It measures 30"x22". All of the birds can be seen in and around our yard.
