Back in March 2020 I posted the following as a recommendation for an external optical drive. I’m one of those ‘old fossils’ to whom Al refers 
and still persevere with EAC. The ASUS drive matches up well with EAC and still produces acceptable quality rips to my ears. One day I’ll probably move into the 21st century…
