Is your DS DAC modded at all? There are some inexpensive things you can do which make a remarkable difference.
I’m not sure it’s fair to say that DAC had a “PS Audio sound” since the design work was almost completely handled by an outsider (Ted) who has consistently worked to make the output be the truest possible representation of the input. In fact it was Ted who provided details in support of the main mods and even suggested some of them.
I’m listening to my DSDMkI right now, which was modded by JK Richards, playing one of my worst sounding 44.1(16 PCM disks, Duran Duran, and it sounds quite good and involving.
Other better recorded cd’s of course sound much better, and SACD’s are next level. It’s going to be awhile before I’m itching to upgrade my DAC.
@mike1127 if you’re hearing a major difference between DSD and PCM make sure deemphasis is not being triggered with the latter.
Which Transparent hdmi did you get? I see the current model and some old stock Premium Gen 5 are available at similar price.
