For now, I’m very happy with my choice to keep my BHK 300s in lieu of the pass amps (they are surprisingly still listed on agon). The new early 70s era Mullard tubes brought my magic back (was using the gold lions). Going to save my pennies over the upcoming months or more for a end of the line speaker (a gift to myself before I stop working). Magico A3/A5 or YG Carmel are early contenders. Something that physically fits and I can run close to a back wall. The reviews of both speakers in this months absolute sound got my attention. Don’t want to listen until I’m closer but will be keeping a list of contenders. Thanks all for the input! This site has been a huge influence along my hifi journey.
If I may make a suggestion, get a full range speaker. Stereophile has a good list. Or a limited frequency speaker, with a few subs
There is nothing better than a new set of tubes to bring back all the magic.
Who is your go-to for tubes?

I’ve bought all my tubes from Brent for a while now. Man are prices getting up there. NOS tube prices had an impact on my decision to sell my Cary SLP-05 and replace with the pass XP-22.
Roger that. I have a call into Jessie to discuss tube options for the 300’s. I am a tube virgin. Looking for something better than the Lions.
There is a huge thread in that here somewhere.
Took the plunge and bought 7308 Mullards. Probably the same ones as you. Heaven help us. After this, on to speakers, just like you.
“Specified as putting out 60W into 8 ohms and 120W into 4 ohms (both 17.8dBW), the XA60.8 considerably exceeded that power, delivering, at 1% total harmonic distortion (THD), 150W into 8 ohms (21.8dBW, fig.4), 240W into 4 ohms (20.8dBW, fig.5), and 380W into 2 ohms (19.8dBW, fig.6)” - Stereophile’s John Atkinson’s test measurement from the Nov 2017 review…
