@brett66 all opinions count in my opinion. I appreciate all perspectives, is not too much information. I tweak rooms just as much, inch by inch placement and toe-in and out until I get that virtual center channel focused, then adjust the stage width from there. I’ve been able to get what most people only believe after hearing, from simple pair of KEF Q100’s pair. With clean and somewhat decent bass for speakers that most people add a sub for. To me the pursuit lies in getting a 3D signature out of two-channel audio. Going with towers is only addressing bass response in an easier manner than bookshelves. If bass gets unwieldy, I dampen the room just like highs and mids need taming sometimes.
An argument in favor of the Triton towers or any powered tower.
For me if there is too much bass it suffocates the mids, especially the low mids/midbass and it sounds artificial. The magic is getting the blend right, then the speakers breathe and you get a beautiful spacious image. With a powered tower you can control the bass level up/down to get the blending just right. You can always add in another sub or two to balance things out. With a passive tower you have no fine adjustment to the bass. With a powered tower you get a two parameter adjustment. Often when I move my Tritons, I adjust the bass just a little and get a Synergistic combination.
Definitely a valid point for easier electronic control of the range
Not that I’ve heard them specifically with the m700s, but I’ve had the m700s and I’ve had one of the speakers so have some feel for the sonic qualities of both and think they might pair well, and heard the other with ss electronics of similar power output.
Just gut but I feel like it’s worth looking at the Nola Contender II and the Aerial Acoustic 6. If looking at monitors consider the KEF LS50 imo.
Just some food for thought to round out your list with speakers I’ve heard and liked more than most.
I would add Monitor Audio Silver 8/10’s or Gold series to the list and take down these 805’s from the list. Go for a full range speaker. I recommend MA over B&W any time. I think B&W has too much name and less ‘bang’ in their pricing, also the sound is too forward for me.
me@Monitor Audio Silver 10’s with m700’s and waiting for PSA speakers!
I agree about Monitor Audio. I had a pair of RS6’s Silver series and they performed way above their weight class at around $1K per pair. Very balanced sound with really excellent dispersion.
Thanks to everyone for their great recommendations. After lots of reading, asking and descriptions of how they sound, I’ve decided to give the SVS UltraTowers an audition. It seems that it may be the one to pair to the M700 which will be arriving tomorrow. The anticipation of the M700s getting here it’s eating me minute by minute. Of course I’ll share my impressions once I have it all setup. I have other towers that will be listened to while the SVS arrives. The descriptions that leaned me to the SVS was that it was compared to various British speakers and that they sounded less forward and more neutral than those, as well as warm if driven up in volume.
Warm waves.

Did you get an opportunity to audition the Ascends?
What speakers did you choose?
How are the m700s?
Amps should be selected to serve the speakers, not the other way around.
Speakers should be selected to serve the room and musical genres of interest.
Full range speakers place bass and higher frequency generation in the same place in the room, not recommended.
Speakers cannot be selected based on specifications or recommendations of others, you simply must carefully audition for yourself.
