PMG Signature Pre has arrived and it sounds amazing

Aw man! I was hoping that the sound quality between the BHK pre & the PMG would be closer than it is. My wallet would have appreciated it.
I have been a tube preamp guy for many, many years as I like what they add to the sound quality compared to the solid state I auditioned.
My current BHK has the Synergistic Research master fuse and I rotate NOS Telefunken & Amperex 7316 tubes as each set has a slightly different but enjoyable presentation .
When the PMG arrived yesterday around noon I unpacked and installed it . I put some music on and left it running for a few hours at a low volume level before sitting down for some serious listening.
I thought that I couldn’t get much more out of my system & I am delighted I was wrong .
My first observation is that the remote volume control worked just fine from my seated position 10’ away from my speakers. Secondly, you have to see the volume display in your system. It is outrageous and it makes me smile every time I see it. Thirdly, I had to keep checking my sound level meter as I kept thinking what I was hearing was louder than I thought. Normally I average around 85 to 90 dba. Yesterday 80 to 85 dba was plenty loud.
As for the sound quality, it is totally immersive. Even with just a few hours run time , it in another league compared to the BHK which was & still is an excellent preamp.Every song I played over a 6 hour listening session had much more fullness to it . I heard things I never noticed before such as Van Morrison’s song Brown Eyed Girl. I have listened to this song since it first came out & I never heard the very low volume hand clapping in the right channel.
PMG can get enthusiastic about his products at times but in this case, he is more than justified. If the PMG DAC I have a deposit on has as much or even half the impact as the preamp, I will be living in my media room .
