Non-scientific poll: Which DS/J input offers the best sound quality?

Since when were polls supported in the forum software?
Good question, let’s ask the group: When did the forum software begin supporting polls?

Started with USB when I got the DS. Had curious usb with regen. After seeing some posts from Ted and others about the benefits of toslink I gave it a try. Tried toslink and have not looked back. Improvement in sound quality is similar to improvement from redcloud to snowmass - x2. Downside is I’m limited to 96k - Standard redbook is so much better with toslink that I’m willing to live with the limitation. I’d like to try I2s at some point but that would require another converter. My Aurender does not have I2s output.
That is interesting . . . which Toslink cable are you using? And as of a second ago, there were no votes for Toslink . . . feel free to cast your vote for that input.
There’s something funny going on, I know that I saw votes for TOSLink about 8 hours ago…
People can only vote for one choice, but they can change their votes. That might explain it. As of a second ago, Toslink had 6% of the 17 votes.
The last TOSLink vote was me. But I also voted for TOSLink many hours ago.
Excellent poll! When did this feature arise?
As the poll starter, the only things I can do are: (1) vote once (which I did, with the first vote, for I2S); (2) change my individual vote (which I have not done); and (3) close the poll. I cannot see who voted or change votes other than my own. If the raw number of votes for TOSLink went down then AFAIK that means one or more people changed their votes.
My point was that before I voted again, the value had gone to zero (as you noted) and when I looked I could vote again so it seemed that either all TOSLink votes were lost or just mine
I’m not trying to accuse anyone of doing anything weird, I’m just noting that last night my TOSLink vote showed up and as you noted this morning it was gone so I suspect something is weird about the voting software or the rules are different for administrators.
Thanks for that clarification, Ted. Since you didn’t change your TOSLink vote and it disappeared, something appears to be rotten in the State of Denmark.
Is the server that hosts this BBS based in Florida, I wonder?
I first tried a $5 radio shack cable I had laying around and that gave me the improvement I mentioned. I know - sounds crazy. I later picked up an inexpensive glass cable on amazon that was a bit better. If I want to listen to DSD downloads I have to switch back to USB but I don’t do that much as the redbook and 96k rips are so good with toslink. I’m sure there are better but I found this glass cable on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D1A8KM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
