It’s been a few years since they went to Redbook quality. I’m still blown away by how it sounds. I’m also blown away at why people find streaming sub standard. I have a modest setup with a Roon Server with a MacBook endpoint using USB to a Denafrips Iris and I²S out to the DirectStream DAC Mk1. A fancy USB cable but no fancy streamer or ethernet switch. The point is that people with far better hardware are either making an allowance for streaming due to the ease or they prefer their cd playback. Could the issue be setup? How many times has Jim Smith travelled to a client with a six figure system that didn’t sound very good?

I am perfectly content w/ RP streaming quality. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want new gear to be capable of high res, but I’m not sure I’d hear the difference if played back to back.
