I have been using a Lumin T2 streamer/dac with Roon with no issues. Today I received a new direct stream MK II dac. I plan to use the Lumin as the streamer and connect via USB to the MK II. Got everything setup initially with no problems. The lumin streamed from Roon to the MK II for a while. I went into device settings and it showed the Lumin as the bridge and the MkII as the audio device. Looks like I expected. However I could not see any of the advanced options. I could click on the advanced tab but nothing happened. When I left the screen I lost sound and have not been able to get it back. I am able to stream directly from Qobuz, Tidal and my NAS with no problems but Roon is silent. When I look at the audio settings in Roon the T2 shows up as a device but not the MKII. Shouldn’t it be? I have a call in to PS Audio support and sent a support ticket to Roon. Any ideas on what is going on here?
Not to be too facile, but have you rebooted everything and tried again?
Sometimes these things get out of sync.
Do you have any up sampling or MUSE filters turned on? If so maybe try turning them off and see if the sound come as back…. Also have you uninstalled and reinstalled the app on your phone/tablet?
Thank you both for your suggestions. Yes, I did completely reboot all the components to start back as square one. Still no success. I have been getting help from the Lumin tech support guy on the Roon Forum. So far his suggestions have not worked. However it starting to sound more like a Lumin issue than a a PS Audio issue. I have not changed any of the default settings regarding filtering. I have not tried deleting and reinstalling the apps however. That should be easy enough to try.
What seems odd to me that it was working through Roon when I first set it up but suddenly went silent while I was just moving around inside Roon looking at device settings.
You might try having the lumin disconnected from power for a while. Next, to erase the cash memory in your app (assuming that’s what you’re using).
Hope that helps.
Perform a factory reset on your MK2 through the system menu. Every so often mine goes silent though it says its getting s Roon stream. Factory Reset gets it playing again.
The problem is fixed but I am not sure why. It turns out it was the setting in Roon MUSE that enabled up-sampling. Club_pizzzaz guessed it at first. The reason I didn’t think that was the source of the problem was that I had not gone into MUSE to even look at it, let alone make any settings. This morning I was going through the Roon screens again and opened the MUSE screen and noticed that enabling up-sampling was turned on. I disabled it and the sound is now back. I am glad it is working now but I would like to know why. I am just trying to learn more about the DAC and would rather eliminate the trial and error component of this learning. :-). Thank everyone for their assistance. I am loving the sound of the DAC BTW.
