Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis - The First Day

Well hell - we could all do with recognizing what today is - its the 85th anniversary of the recording of the very first Blue Note Records album. Alfred Lion saw these two in “John Hammond’s Spirituals to Swing” concert a few weeks before and decided he wanted record Albert and Meade playing together. So on Jan. 6 1939 he did so for the very first Blue Note record. Pretty awesome bit of historical listening
