A very 1962 (song choices) LP by Jack Teagarden for Verve, his last I think for the label.
Great band! Okay LP. . . could have been grittier. Maybe the band wasn’t “lubricated” enough.
In the queue.
Paul Oakenfold - Swordfish << The Album >>
This is the reissue released yesterday, been after this one a long time, prices on the 2001 original were £300 and over, this is the first reissue
And as with all Oakenfold reissues, it’s been done extremely well. No idea where it was but the formula is dead quiet and flat as a pancake.
This is a cool new one. I recently picked up the 1985 The Complete Works box set that EMI released off the back of the success of Live Aid, it’s a really wonderful box and the seller I got it from was an obvious Queen fan and threw in a load of original 7" in good nick too, I was so pleased.
Of course that box was released the year before this album came out, this is probably my favorite Queen album because of the connection to the Highlander film.
I had a 2015 Half Speed Mastered copy of this by Miles Showell, but it never really moved me, so looked at some really well rated copies. And found this.
This is the 1986 Capitol version, cut by the infamous Wally who was at Capitol Mastering at the time. And there were 2 copies that Capitol put out (may have been more), both off the Wally lacquers, but this particular one is pressed by Speciality Records Corporation who at the time were rather revered for the quality of their vinyl formula. And this isn’t an A1 copy, definitely needs a clean, but OMG, what a night and day difference, this leaps out at you with soundstage way beyond the speakers.
Totally worth it!
Continuing on in the “Enjoying the Ride” box set from the Grateful Dead.
