Tropical storm Chantal came in and kicked our butts yesterday. Major flooding. My power is in and out and internet out for almost 24hrs now. Still, I have it easy living on top of a hill. Chantal had quite a rear end.. I measured just over 8 inches of rain from around 5pm to midnight. Insane
Continuing with the Poga/StavangerSO series and enjoying the performances very much. The performance of this Rachmaninoff is in the old school grand Romantic tradition. Many other attempts just cannot hold this together, but Poga maintains tight control and delivers. As with the Prokofiev, my only reservation is with the low original recording resolution imposed on Bert when he recorded this using the NRK facilities. But, it is what it is.
The mountains kept the weather from hitting us.
When I saw you’ve played Stone Free, I just had to do the same… it’s such a great collection of Hendrix cover songs! I bought it when I was visiting your beautiful country somewhere in the nineties sailing on a frigate of the Royal Dutch Navy. My favourite song of this album is Purple Haze, unmistakably Jimi’s song, but The Cure play it completely in their own style
Yeah, it came in off the coast, got to us, and just sat here dumping rain. A couple tornados too
It’s a really great album I agree. Hendrix was just unreal on his guitar. Pure magic. I was gifted a large(6.5TB) digital music collection by my brother Mike when I started putting my system together. There are around ten great tribute albums for various artists I’ve found so far in this collection. I really enjoy the different spin. My father was a Navy man and sailed around some after the Navy. He loved the ocean. Cheers!
Here is another album of other artists playing Hendrix.
