More and more I am amazed by the late Gary Peacock. He was an amazing technician and also so very lyrical and musical.

I really like this album, it’s jazzy/ambient (maybe you guys know a better description
) Regularly I buy cassettes or CDs from lesser known artists like Jay, Mary Spender and Espen Kraft. It gives me a good feeling to support them and I get some very special, physical, albums ![]()
From a 15ips 2-track tape to Pure DSD256. Sonic bliss with the greatest sextet ever assembled: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones. Yep, the transfer is another excellent production by Bob Witrak.
Later: just pulled out the MoFi SACD of this to compare. No contest. The HDTT is cleaner, more open, with greater resolution. Just more fun to listen to, as well. Perhaps this is the excellent external Merrill tape preamp Bob uses, perhaps the DSD256. I don’t know. But its a nice overall step up in sound quality.
