I checked the specs and Toslink can only do 44.1 kHz to 96kHz. 16bit 24 bit
I don’t know what the bitrate is of DSD over DoP…but i always thought that was a workaround that allowed you to listen to DSD files over usb…figured it would also work for toslink.
If there is a DAC that can do DSD from Toslink, I will be first in line to get it. I also feel pure light fibers is the way to go for best signal transfer.

Sounds like ted is saying if you can get 24/176.4 to work then you can get dsd over dop to work too through toslink.
Nope, couldn’t get 176 kHz to work also. 96 kHz is maximum from Toslink.
When i get the matrix ill try a few different toslink cables with 24/192…sounds like ted is saying it’s possible.
Maybe you have to see what cable Ted is using and get the exact one if there is any chance of it working.

Im so stoked to check this out.
DSD over toslink(even when using DOP) is the holy grail imo…i cant see how it would get any better than that.
I asked him about this cable and he said it would probably work with 24/192…but he didn’t test it:
When I receive mine ill test it and report back. 
I wouldn’t keep my hopes up too high but you can always return it if it doesn’t work. That’s what I like about Amazon, they have a very good return policy.

Try cleaning ends with alcohol and lint free swab. Check to see if fiber end face is splintered or has rounded edges under 10 X magnification and white light. Black spots are issues if not a bright white circle.
Ted Smith got back to me and said he had good luck with aq optilink toslink cables for 24/192 and an old monster toslink from years back.
I ordered an aq optilink forest and a cheap pangea toslink…fingers crossed.
I just tried an old Monster and DSD DOP works over Toslink, but the other 2 cables didn’t. Here’s a picture.

It’s the cheapest one from Monster.[Monster Cable Interlink Lightspeed 100 Fiber Optic Digital Audio TOSLINK}. I don’t have time to do compaisons at the moment. I’ll do that at a latter time, but very interesting.
