How do you like music with the BHK Pre & BHK 250?
It’s great!
Even with an overworked P3 and a humble mytek Brooklyn dac+, it sounds very musical. I’m finding it much warmer and less fatiguing than when I had the gain cell in place. And it’s a much bigger sound too.
I am finding imaging to not be a huge improvement over the gain cell, but I haven’t begun rolling tubes, and I only have 100 hours on the bhk preamp.
I have a BHK Pre feeding M700 monoblocks and while this combo does sound quite good, am tempted by both the M1200 and the BHK 250 with their tube input stages.

I never auditioned the m1200s since I thought it wouldn’t be too big of a leap from my m700s. I’d be interested in hearing your comments on the performance differences.
I liked the idea of having a huge power amp sitting in my system, which the BHK250 definitely achieves! I’m also a bit of a power cable nut, so using only one single power cable helps bring the costs closer.
You wouldn’t be disappointed with the upgrade to the 1200s or BHK 250. I prefer the 250, but they both do beautifully with the BHK pre.
