Why, there is none ADC?

I understand the Digital Analogue Converter, but why?

Why there is not a Analog Converter Digital, where i could plug the terminal of my turntable, and listen it to a DAC or a Streamer?

A reverse DAC, I think, from what I saw on Ebay, at one point, PS did one?

Would be fun to listen My TT and having less gear and a simpler HiFi system?

And bonus, digitalize my Album?

Did you know why?

an explain briefly?

Nuwave, Phono Converter

This could be interesting, don’t you think?

I have a NuWave Phono Converter (in black). It’s a very nice component. I used to listen to the I2S DSD output via HDMI into my DSD Mk 2 DAC until early last year when I switched to listening to the XLR analog output (I bought a Goldpoint 2 XLR into 1 XLR switcher so that I could feed both the XLR sources into my Decware ZROCK3 EQ device). The XLR analog output is slightly more dynamic, that would be the biggest difference between not using the internal ADC and using it. (I don’t do any digitizing of vinyl for use in other devices).

Good Day,

So if i found one, it worth the purchase?

With the PMG who had analogue volume, could be interesting to have, since it don’t have a analogue input!

regards

I know there are ultimately better phono preamps out there, but very few if any with an ADC. I would say you would probably find it worth it in your situation–it certainly does sound good using the digital output.

Anyone who uses a DSP, for Room Correction, subwoofer active crossover, or in my case, BACCH processing, has all inputs fed through an ADC. My phono preamp connects to my BACCH, runs through the ADC, gets processing through a computer, and then is sent to a DAC. It is more common than you may be aware. Some devices, particularly all in one amp, streamer, DAC units have phono inputs that convert to digital first. The NAD M10 is an example.

My question for you is, why would you desire this? Just making conversation? Oh that’s right, you want a digital recording of your vinyl. There is a thread on this forum, can’t remember the name, where this is discussed at length. Include device references.

I used to record my vinyl myself, but I lost interest. I just put the record on or stream it from Qobuz or Tidal.

He explains that in his first post. He, like I, appears to not use DSP or Bacch, and he wishes to keep a pared down system, without an analog preamp. In my life I don’t know anyone personally who does. I don’t use subwoofers either.

Thanks! "@lonson!

I will search this thread!

Without AI, i found this, no clue, what is good to digitalize!

The best gear to digitise your record collection without losing that analogue warmth — The Vinyl Factory

BTW, with

over 1500 CD, that I am digitalise right now and listening again (in tha car), some are a keeper others no so sure, so I listen to them again.

Over 1 500 records, that at night or in alternance with CD, I listen all again

Over 60 tapes, only got those to bench mark, LP, CD and K7 version regarding the loudness.

Example: Crime of Century, is all original recording on tape and even with the hiss and limitation, sound better than the CD and the remastered LP! strange but true.

So for playing this, I have 3 HiFi, a NAS, 3 x carousel CD [400/unit that I play randomly by album integrity(no streamer does that)], with tuner, with DAC, Phono stage, amplifier and speaker etc.

I will in the spring, discard a bunch of receiver, turntable, speaker, open baffle speaker, etc.

Since I have discover PS audio, this fall, from a friend in New Brunswick! it change my life and I does not listen much anymore the others! They ar no use.

I will probably make a Yard Sale this summer with record I don’t appreciate and all those gear that I don’t use anymore, And i don’t like seeing them sitting on a Shelf!

I will only keep my main system, and listen records, a lot of them, are not available on streamer, or are like Journey album are the loudness of the loudness of the loudness of the loudness. So in that case worth digitalise to have a spare copy.

So my goal in life is reading my book and listening music and 1 movie a day.

Could you explain, why i still need a streamer to listen music?

:exploding_head: 240000 minutes - 4008 hours - 167 days 24/24houres or at 8 hours a day: 501 days of music, reading my 2000 books that I have and will read at a rate of one book a week. It will take me: 40 years to read ( an average 1 book/week around 50 books per years). When my life expectation is about 20 years?:face_with_spiral_eyes:

And if I go condo, in 5 years, that I will have to discard!:worried:

So no times to waste, I’m really busy, enjoying my “last straw” (not sure, if its correct idiom) and before my best before date arrived or that I start forgetting everything or could not handle a record anymore or my tinnitus decide to close the bar!

Enjoy, would i want to rip record, not necessarily, would I want to preserve rare record, maybe!

But I always prefer the feeling of record  compare to digital :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: , that is to complicate for me and that is too much for me. Always the same happen with streamer : young adult listen 2 or 3 pop songs, and all my jazz disappear from auto play [Spotify DJ, Azon soundtrack, I hate that, also Hate automatic one track album]

I am old, grumpy and I assume that, I work my but all my life, till the finish line could I read and listen music to compensate all the time I could not in the past.

So again talking to myself, like an old man:

  • Why I need a streamer to play songs from internet, when I buy and carefully, choose music to listen at home, that I exchange my life for it :face_with_monocle:

Citation:

  • Look around: all the clutter used to be money. All the money used to be time. And time used to be life that past and won’t come back!
  • Henry David Thoreau: The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.

Too many words for me.

Do you need a streamer?

This is not a need based hobby. If you can hum the tune do you need any audio gear?

No.

You are on your own to sort out your “needs”.

Yup an analogue converter, to preserve un-loudness record, I enjoy, why I don’t know!

And, when I rip my CD, I ask myself why?

  • It cost a lot of time
  • transportability?
  • Could not afford pay per month/year?
  • Sound Quality, well a Yes there, but maybe not!
  • To rediscover my music in tha car, Yes there, but maybe not!
  • I miss k7 tape mix, not really, this is streamer are all about!
  • I miss listen album in the car, yes there, but maybe not!
  • I have nothing else to do when waiting for my wife finish her paperwork, yes there, but maybe not
  • To save space, yes, but I keep the CD and the Vinyl, so maybe not!
  • To share it, with my kids as a posthume way, This is the music I enjoy, like my father did to me. Yes, will it work, not sure. this is a leap of faith to them, for the future!
  • To have a better version sound, art-cover and better tag in music, Yes

Good Question to myself!

The Audio by Van Alstine ADC has been on my wish list for several years, my wish being that my collection was worth preserving.

Wow superb, but coax to USB, how do we proceed to load it to computer?

Hmmm. My apologies. I hadn’t gotten that far. PC sound card with s/pdif or digital hubs and converters are out there but I don’t know of an “audiophile approved” device off the top. There are also other ADC on the market that may be a more elegant solution.

There are many, many analog-to-digital converters on the market ranging from cheap to pro units. A simple Google search will get you going.

Clicked on this thread because i thought it was about ADC the brand. I’ve never been much for equalizers, but the ADC Sound Shaper parametric EQ was a beast of a thing back in its day.
