The best thing is to have a dealer who has different Ansuz sortz to try out. You can try them out yourself in different places in the system. I think the problem with this is that I like each component and have one left in each. ![]()
Even though streaming music sounds fantastic, cd’s still sound a bit better, with more air, so I put this in the upgrade thread, which just arrived today…
Edit: yes, the compact disc does indeed sound better.
With the Ansuz Sortz for LAN, my streaming has gone a step further, even though I previously put in so much effort and used a Muon Pro. The sortz are intended to provide a kind of grounding for the components and prevent or eliminate faults. I’ve tried several others. The Ansuz seem to be the ones with the greatest impact, unfortunately also in terms of price.
For a moment I expected to see a Jays CDT. Kidding aside, that’s a great CD.
According to @straightwire all you need is a Stealth Cloude Grande CU on the MU2 to narrow the gap on CD playback. And a powerzone, and Muon Pro disregard.
Now that the 333 is in place, I believe XLR and speaker cables upgrades are in order. It’s hard to imagine spending more on cables than the 333 but this is the world we live in.
I just picked a number, the price of the 333, and set that as my list price ceiling for each pair of cables.
That puts me at Sakra V16 XLRs and Dream V18-T with bi-wire adds (1.5m).
But what kind of power cable for the Panasonic (cough) cd transport?
Had I known you just missed a killer deal on V18T biwire cables near me. ![]()
@FRO has a deal on V14 biwire
I found XLR Sakra V17 LE the most impactful cables ever made in my system.
V18 T speaker cables? Way way less impactful.
Never tried XLR V16 but strongly recommend the V17 LE.
I was afraid you (and Al) would say that about the V17 LE. I just scooped up the V14 bi-wire from @FRO that @paul172 referenced.
I may just go for the V17 LE - but at a 50% premium over the V16, I had convinced myself it may not be worth it in my setup. No good way to A/B the V16 to the V17 LE on my system before buying.
How long XLR do you need? The dealer that sold the V18 Dream still has a 1m pair of Sakra V16 XLR. Price is probably negotiable but much less than V17LE. Much less.
Totally agree with the Sakra V17LE as the king of cables. I have Stealth V16 and Dream Petite in shotgun mode on the FR30’s. I’ve long considered moving to the V18’s on the top box, but I sense the MU2, Sakra, PowerZone, Cloude Grande have given me more bang for that buck.
That said, the itch for something better than the V16 is still there.
One saving grace is that I think you don’t have to go “ full Al” and get 2 pair of V18’s. According to Serguei, you can mate a less costly cable with them for the bass cabinet if of a similar design.
Here this may help with V16 XLR vs V17LE.
You crack me up. ![]()
Compared to what you had before you are light years ahead with the V16 speaker cables!
You think this is funny? This is my audio future you’re talking about. Hah.
Actually, the V16/Petite combo slays the Iconoclast Series l and ll combo, like you said.
But, upgrading my speaker cables is my final cable frontier (hopefully).
Anyone out there want a deal on V16T cables?
It is dangerous for me to see this question, as I need better interconnects and a PZ first, and am currently awaiting one pair of improved interconnect to arrive before thinking about more interconnect.
Today I tried different LAN suppressors:
Ansuz Sortz Basic and Signature, Furutech Clear Line LAN, Epluggs LAN Highend. There is also a self-made plug that has a silver cable as an extension of the contacts and is filled with tourmaline powder. The homemade one is supposed to convert HF noise into heat using tourmaline. Furutech uses an NCF mixture for this purpose. Epluggs plugs use various minerals, and in the high-end version a diamond is also supposed to ensure harmony. I listened to the track with every plug on the modem, as I suspect that this is where the most potential for interference is.
The DIY adds a slight bit of warmth and the background is perhaps a little quieter. Changes minimal. I don’t hear anything different with the Eplugs plug. It should be noted that the effect can only occur after days and would continue if the plug was removed. So an indication that nothing can be determined and you should believe in it. The Furutech Lan clear line adds some brightness, making the sound impression perhaps a little more resolving. But changes are only minor. The Ansuz Sortz Basic ensures clarity. The sound becomes clean and the soundstage is organized. A Curtain being lifted, so you read it often. The Ansuz Sortz signature, the top model from the sortz series. The effect is similar to that of the sortz Basic. What is he doing differently now? It seems that in addition to the separation of the basic, the sound has slightly softer edges and still provides a high level of resolution. In summary: The Epluggs is out because I don’t want to hope that it will sound better at some point. The Furutech is a start, trying makes you smart. The self-made one is worth a try.
For anyone who likes to do crafts and it doesn’t cost the earth. The Ansuz Sortz Basic cleans things up; the sound is cleaner, with more air, and hidden details come to light. One often reads about a curtain or veil being removed. The top model Sortz Supreme does the same thing as the Basic, but the edges of the sound signal are a little more fluid or sensitive. In conclusion, the Ansuz Sortz Basic is the best buy for the money. It provides clearer playback by removing noise in the signal. In my system, the Sortz seem to offer me added value that others don’t. Depending on the fault or system, the results may vary. The more interference there is in the environment, the greater the differences will be: neighborhood Wi-Fi, radio waves, household appliances and electric car charging, etc.
I didn’t have the sortz in the Supreme version. The dealer told me that this one was an exception and changed the tone from the Basic and Signature models. It should have a full low end and the upper high end should roll off a bit. He said it would suit those looking for a tube sound with more warmth and fullness.
No clear winner…?
If you had to choose just one, MSRP aside…?
TIA
