RE: Upgrading to JRiver MC34 and Adding PSAudio AirLens — Setup Guidance Needed
Hello, I hope the community is doing well.
It’s been years since I originally set up my music server, and I’ll admit—I’m now forgetting more than I remember. I’m planning to add a PSAudio AirLens to my system and upgrade from JRiver MC20 to the latest MC34 (yes, it’s been that long).
Here’s my current setup:
River MC20 running on a Windows netbook → Ethernet to network router → Ethernet to Bridge II (in a DirectStream DAC). I control everything via JRemote on an iPad.
My plan is to retire the netbook and start fresh with a new dedicated laptop running JRiver MC34. I’ll be ‘removing’ the Bridge II and replacing it with the Airlens (connected via Ethernet).
- Once I connect the AirLens to the network, what’s the proper way to configure JRiver to recognize it? Will it show up automatically or do I need to manually configure something specific by ‘assigning’ JRiver to recognize the Airlens?
- What specific “audiophile settings” in JRiver MC34 I should be aware of when setting it up from scratch on a new machine?
- Are there any known compatibility issues between the latest JRiver / JRemote and the PSAudio AirLens?
I’m assuming this isn’t quite “plug and play” and that I’ll need to walk through some setup steps—but I’d love to be wrong. It’d be great if all I need to do is plug the Airlens into the network! Any advice or setup tips would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and best wishes to all.
