Hi Audio Nerds…
I just came across this amaaaazing 1971 album from Tito Puente, “Para Los Rumberos.” Not the best audiophile recording but wow, this rhythm section is a force of nature. Check out the first two tracks - best played LOUD Josh

Tito had over 100 albums in his lifetime, and Para los Rumberos is one of many highlights. I have a recent vinyl reissue by Craft Recordings that makes the best of the original recording. A more recent record I like is Mambo Diablo, recorded in the 1980s for the Concord Picante label, where George Shearing guests.
There is a very good version by Santana. Sounds good, too. I think it’s the last song on Santana III album.
Correct–it was Santana III. Santana also copped “Oye Como Va” from Puente on Abraxas.
On Caravanserai, I was surprised to hear “Stone Flower,” which was the title track from a Antonio Carlos Jobim album. In his version of “Stone Flower,” Santana also tagged on a lick from the song “God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun” from the same album.
