Please bear with me. I’m pretty new to this level of audio. I don’t mean more expensive audio, although it seems to go hand in hand. I am experimenting more with different interconnects, speaker cables, etc… which is part of the fun for me.
I’m running a Directstream DAC (2x i2s inputs). One of the i2s inputs are connected to my Matrix xSPDIF 2 for music on my computer (USB to i2s). The other i2s input is used for my Jay’s Audio CD transport.
Now I have the PS Audio SACD transport and I would like to be able use it on the i2s. Are there any options here besides just plugging/unplugging the i2s connections if there are more than 2?
I literally got my PS Audio SACD Transport on New Years Day. I wanted to do some AB testing to see if it’s worth keeping. I originally put the Jay’s CD Transport up for sale to offset the costs, but I have both now so trying to enjoy both for now.
Impressions on the CD or SACD Transport? I plan on keeping my SACD Transport since it’s my only SACD player. The Jay’s CD Transport on the other hand, if someone shows interest, I would let it go. No sense in having 2 devices that play CDs.
I only have impressions on SACD vs CD layer playback for now. The more I listen to gear, the more I understand what these reviewers are talking about. It’s not like I’m listening for anything they say, but when you hear it, you hear it. With small combo jazz recordings, on the DSD layer playback, I was shocked at the separation I could hear of each instrument. The kick drum/bass drum sounded so real too. I haven’t done any AB testing on the 2 different layers, but I never heard what I just mentioned when I was listening to the CD layer. So far, I’m hooked on DSD, I just need to buy more SACDs
