Is anyone else running with Paul’s ideal amp setup? I have the BHK 600s and a single P20. I’ve been swapping back and forth between my P20 and my AQ Niagara 5000 for a while now. While the 5000 may get the nod for bass power, with the P20, the sense of air, openness and depth is improved. I wonder what a second P20 would bring to the table.
That’s what I’m running as well as a third P20 for source and pre amp. Can’t say what the difference would be since I have only used the two P20’s since I got the 600’s. Each has its own dedicated 30a line and I use the 20a option on the P20’s. I think all of this together should be an improvement but I haven’t tried other configurations so won’t speculate further.
I have not connected a P20 each to a single BHK
600. If you use the 20 amp connection, you should have more than sufficient power to run both 600’s and several components on a single P20.
If you are referencing the Axpona booth setup, the extra P20 may have been for “show”.
My P20 operates at about 60% of it’s capacity with the BHK 600s plus my source components.
Exactly.
So while technically I have sufficient power with a single P20, it begs the question of why run more than one? Does it come down to a greater sense of ease and control? Will two P20s running at lower capacity last longer before they may need service? I also wonder if the bass would improve to the point of matching or exceeding what I hear with my AQ 5000.
There’s only one definitive way to answer your questions.
Drop @paul172 a note He could assist you in getting another P20. Frankly, I would choose 2 P20’s over a P20 and Niagra 5000.
Yes. I have a P20 looking for a new home. Thanks @straightwire for the plug.
I have one P20 for my BHK 600’s on a dedicated 20A line.
I have a P15 on a separate 20A line for everything else. Not sure if I would obtain any further benefit adding a second P20. If I did that, I’d want a third 20A line added into the room.
What’s that? Ask Al to try it?
