Your Direct playback working faster is the part I fixed; the frozen progress bar and the two-track stop are a new one, and I found the mechanism today in another Mac user’s log — the direct-to-DAC engine stops reporting position and track end until a transport button pokes it. Playing straight from an album never sends that poke, which is why the big Play button “fixes” it. Two weeks ago this path didn’t exist yet, which is why it worked then.
I’m working on it now. The USB-DAC triple listing and the 30-second delay you reported earlier are in the next release as well.
Thank you very much! The progress bar is working again. The only thing is that the graphical bars next to the track only start moving when I use the big play button at the bottom.
Thanks also for the feedback. Now I understand where this is coming from as well.
I’m consistently getting a ‘Repair network access’ pop up in v320 on Windows 11. “ could not download audio from this computer - Maestro’s local stream service is not reachable on any network interface. Restart Maestro and confirm the background audio service is running”.
Also, Maestro insisted on rescanning my local files, but now none of the files have any tracks.
Yes. I reported this Paul and he replied: That popup is a false alarm and the flashing windows are the same bug — my new network checker fires on every track change, gets the wrong answer, and shows its work on your screen. Your log confirms the music never stopped, so you can press Not now every time. Fix is in progress for the next release.
I went back to 319 and the problem dissapeared
Ok, thank you for that, I must have missed your earlier post! I just want the damned software to work. I do one upgrade a week to see the progress (or lack), 320 is not working well for me…Maestro keeps reloading my local library now, and none of the albums can be played. Good Grief.
I don’t know the technical reasons, but I do know Maestro is the best sounding streaming platform I have heard. I have lifetime subscription to Roon and have always enjoyed it.
Maestro just sounds so good to me (soundstage, dynamic). It does not have the UI features as Roon and it may never have but listening to music is a lot more enjoyable now.
My system is primarily a PS Audio PowerPlant 12, Grimm MU2, Dan D’Agostino Progression Integrated amp, and FR10 speakers.
When my trial ends, I will pay the $99 and get the 1 year subscription. I am confident Maestro will get even better over time.
Two things in 320: The “repair network access” popup is a false alarm from a new network check that gets the wrong answer — 11.0.321, out today, removes it.
The rescan that left every album with no tracks is a grouping bug on Windows libraries; 321 carries the repair, which runs at startup and puts the tracks back under their albums without you doing anything. Update, open it, and give it a few minutes.
When my macbook screen goes dark Maestro stops playing, is there a way to fix this, so my laptop’s screen doesn’t have to be on the whole time? With Roon this does not happen.
There is a free app called Amphetamine that will keep your laptop alive and Maestro operating as long as Maestro is open. I’ve been using it for a few months while testing Maestro and it (Amphetamine, not Maestro) works quite well,
The script I mentioned is a very simple shell script that disables sleep mode and, when you click the associated icon, tells you that sleep is disabled. A separate script turns sleep back on when you’re done listening.
No third-party app required. Just a command line inside a shell script.
What that is, I couldn’t tell you. I’m away from my laptop for a while, but it shouldn’t be hard to figure out. If I can do it…
you all are so lucky, I was slammed for reporting problems a couple months ago, alleging I was interfering with your fun. the SQ is so good I don’t listen to my system anymore because of the problems. going back to Audirvana is a step down even if trouble free and a preferred UI.
It’s been interesting to follow how folks have approached this project in different ways. Some have been enthusiastic about submitting detailed trouble reports in support of improving the app while others have complained about the app not being 100% trouble free. I guess it all comes down to expectations. Those who expected this to be a project in development have seemed to enjoy the journey while those who wanted a ready-made app have been upset that it doesn’t offer everything they expected.
I have switched from “enjoy the journey” group to the “waiting group” too. It is not that the journey was not fun, but the journey seemed to turn into a loop. Many encountered the problems that were solved before, only to come back later again.
I wish we will see an end product that is reliable to use, I really do.
