Nope - I can’t get Maestro to play directly to my Directstream Mk2. I can play my DSD64 tracks via my Mano Ultra2 (Ethernet > Mano 2 > I2S > Directstream). But, on my system, Maestro playing PCM to BACCH4Mac is better than DSD. I just tried it again, and lost interest in DSD.
Philip, the Mk2 plays directly from Maestro over its Bridge — I do it here every day — so something’s off in how it’s showing up on your end. Check the Devices list: the Mk2 appears twice. One entry is called “Primary Play Interface” — that’s the Bridge’s proper face and the one to pick. The other sits under Network Players, usually labeled “Network Player” with an IP address next to it — that’s the Mk2’s Roon endpoint, not the one Maestro plays to, and selecting it does nothing. My guess is that’s the one you’ve been clicking.
If Primary Play Interface still won’t take, power-cycle the Mk2 from the back, quit Maestro (Maestro in the menu bar, then Quit Maestro) and reopen it, then have another look at Devices and tell me what you see. I’d like to get that path going for you, DSD or PCM — and no argument from me on BACCH; whatever makes you sit up and listen is the right answer.
Maestro does play DSD to the Mk2 over USB, as DoP, so let’s find out where yours is getting turned into PCM. The usual culprit: the Mk2 zone is in shared mode, where the computer’s audio mixer gets in the middle and hands the DAC PCM. DSD files still play that way, but the Mk2’s display will say PCM instead of DSD. The zone has to be set to bit-perfect for DSD to arrive intact.
Tell me three things and I’ll get you sorted: Mac or Windows, the Maestro version (Settings shows it), and what the Mk2’s front panel reads when you play a DSD track — DSD, PCM, or nothing at all. If it’s nothing, that’s a different problem than PCM, and I want to know which one you’ve got.
never mind, my mistake!
Good eve to you @Paul . Any update coming soon? My Maestro is currently basically unusable with Qobuz as the source. It stops after every track, and I have to advance to the next.
What version are you on now? 327?
326 Paul - no updates available - is 327 released?
323 is the latest available online
Thanks for that! Strangely, my version of Maestro was showing no updates available..
Regards, Mike
Yep. Mine too.
Regarding DSD playback, on my Mac to DSMKII, via USB it will only show up as PCM on the DS display. Yes I agree that even though the Primary play interface is selected, the McOS mixer is getting in the way. (since I can also play other sources, even though I have exclusive mode selected in Maestro)
In Meastro’s screen the Primary Play interface doesn’t indicate bit perfect. However another all in one speaker from Sony (SA-Z1 with a DSD dac) does indicate bit perfect. (also via USB) However that also will not play DSD.
When I launch Jriver, I can get DSD playing into both the DS MKII and the Sony SA-Z1 with no issues.
Mine as well, but just downloaded it manually.
I manually downloaded v327 (Windows 11) this morning because the app was reporting that V323 was the current version.
The Qobuz playback progress bar is still broken, as is the pause/play button at the bottom of the screen.
Maestro still can’t scan my local files. I have a ‘rebuilding library…’ message at the top of the screen that never clears. Maybe next week……
Version 327 is the latest and it is live.
Thanks Paul, downloaded and installed last evening. Unfortunately, I’m still having issues between tracks when playing from Qobuz. Not advancing to the next track in the queue. Let me know if you want logs
Please. That would help a lot.
I am still having connection delays for Maestro connecting with local library and DAC. If it does connect then things work well.
Sent two logs last evening Paul
