Same here. Vinyl is made from polyvinyl chloride.
A wonderful thing!
Using the word “vinyl” as anything other than a noun when identifying a material, or as an adjective when describing an object, grates on my sensibilities the same way that using “gift” as a verb does. I hope no one ever “gifts me a vinyl.” I might have to assault them.
Use the proper term please: Wax.
Wax on wax off …
Vinyl phooie …record, LP or album if multiple in a set…
Best wishes
Never vinyls! Mostly call them records, but LPs is a good substitute.
Always been records to me. Whenever I am listening to a CD I still say I am playing a record, not spinning a disc.
Yes I left out 45’s 78’s and 12 inch singles. To me CD’s are just that though I could call them albums too. Never Policarbonets or Vinyls for records.
I always used album to mean the collection of the cover and liner notes as well as the record inside.
99% of the customers at the shop who use the word “vinyls” have a Crosley and also use the word audiophile. I cringe.
The Crosley owners may like music…
in a very far stretch of the imagination perhaps…audiophile
Hopefully oneday they might be befriended by someone who
has a good setup and gets to hear for the first time and get
a revelation of what this is all about… maybe…
best wishes
The sad thing about that is if the do have an epiphany and realize what great sound is possible it will be too late for the records they ground up on the Crosley!
A friend called a CD an LP the other day. Seems wrong.
Perhaps those ground down by a Crossly could use a micro line type stylus
that could trace the bottom most depths of the groove where hopefully some
music survives unscathed…
Best wishes
As a record collector, I am amazed by how good many records I have sound very good>excellent.
I have no idea what type of machine these records were played on but it seems that vinylite was/is a very durable material. My sense is that unless the Crosley users place coins on the tone arm these discs will survive the experience.
I suggest vinyi instead of vinyls
I agree but records should be the standard.
Microline stylus types ride higher, not lower.
Ooops …sorry goes to show …what do I know?
There may be a stylus that reaches deeper into the groove…
that could partly solve the problem of worn groove dsmage.
Best wishes
