Aspen FR 20 and 30, where are you?

I agree with @Wimek. I was very sad when the UK voted to leave the EU. The vote was marginal and the politicians sold a pack of lies - they didn’t fool me and it just goes to show how nationalistic people are and don’t see the bigger picture.

No surprise here!
The world and its inhabitants have been in a constant state of flux from the get-go.Change is inevitable and should be expected. The ability to adapt to change is a crucial ingredient to the human condition whether we like it or not. I am eternally grateful for all things in heaven and on earth.

This country was never built for a two party system.

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.” - George Washington.

Thanks Paul for the honest and thoughtful response.
It gives me hope that saner minds will prevail.

One of the biggest problems is our leader’s complete lack of genuine interest in art, and even to some extent life. And interest in the world is only to the extent it can be dominated (with one large, notable exception).

We avoid politics on this forum because it is a respite for those who are tired of hearing the arguing and the like.

Please self censure your comments to keep from making attacks on others who disagree with you, comments about the intelligence of the President, etc. We can discuss the underlying issues without the hyperbole and the nastiness found otherwise online.

Thanks

Amen!

Thanks though in all honesty I think we’re in for a bit of a rough patch going forward. The pendulum swings back and forth and, at the moment, it’s swung the other way…good for those who hoped for that, but….

At this moment the we just have to hope that the politicians in our respective countries keep their cool and do the right thing. We all just have to try to make the best of the situation, as we always should. The first time we’ll be able to influence the road ahead is at the next elections …

and… let’s not forget to listen to great music, read good books and share that passion.

It comes down to who defines right. Rather simple as it comes down to treating all equitably, meeting one’s commitments, and assisting the less fortunate in meaningful ways. An important function is to exercise one’s right to vote, protect it for all, and stay involved at the local level.

Apathy is the enemy of Democracy.
