Looks like tariffs may have just hit our corner.
Yes, looks they all did and they aren’t even released yet. That’s got to be some kind of record. Oh well $500 here- $500 there—
You didn’t look at speakers yet, lol.
FR30 up by $5k, FR20 up by $4k, FR10 up by $2k, FR5 up by $500
Wowza!
Thats a big leap. I cant help but wonder if the current situation is a down side for any manufacturer but is going to work out very well for TMR and similar markets…?
My response to all of the trade nonsense has been to padlock my wallet for the remainder of the year when it comes to big ticket discretionary items, wait out the carnage and see who is left standing.
In terms of audio gear I am set. No need to fret.
We don’t need two speakers. One is plenty!
MAMA: Make America Monophonic Again
Maybe add a line item on the invoice for tariff. This way we know clearly who is really paying for them.
Amazon tried that and got slapped on the wrist for it.
Apparently if you put your $250 deposit down before the pricing went up it will be honored at the $8499.00 price. Still no trade in amount for MK2 yet.
PS Audio not the only one raising prices. Ford just announced up to a $2,000/vehicle increase on certain cars imported from Mexico due to tariffs, including the Mach-E EV.
PSA needs to stop building in China. I won’t spend that kinda coin on China built anything. Sorry I just can’t. I’m keeping my USA built Maggie 20.7 and Canada built REL subs. I’m sure they sound amazing, I’ll never know. Now, I’d pay up if these were built in USA ( inhouse would be awesome). Just my 2 Cents.
But they’re not built in China at all. All the casework, circuits, and assembly is done in the US. But try finding some kind of electronic circuit component that isn’t made overseas. It’s not like PSA isn’t seeing increases in operating expenses in other ways, either. There are tariffs on aluminum and steel, which has certainly increased their supplier costs for things like drivers. This is why these tariffs are so idiotic. And I don’t know which REL subwoofer you have, but my s/510 has the words, “Assembled in China” emblazoned on its back panel.
The Aspen speakers are made in China.
Yes, I am aware of that and also know that the Sprout is made in China as well. The subject of my response was the PMG series electronics. But my point wasn’t to claim that PSA doesn’t make anything in China, it was to point out that even for products made entirely in the US, there’s no way to really escape the impact of these trade barriers. It’s getting to the point where merely keeping the lights on is getting more expensive, and literally, too.
Thanks. This is correct. We build everything but our loudspeakers in the US. (Pretty much no one builds loudspeakers anywhere else—despite what they may say— for a whole slew of reasons like availability of rare earth materials needed for the magnets to just about everything else. And for the record, my hair bristles when I read about the bashing of other countries by members in this group. We live in this world together. Maybe let’s try to get along with each other?).
The PMG series is all homegrown made right here in Colorado and Kansas and assembled here in Boulder.
But, that’s just the chassis and PCBs. fvector750 is correct. The price of everything including aluminum has skyrocketed because of the tariffs and inflation. Our parts are jumping up in price as is everything else from the carboard we use in packaging to the cost of buying lunch for the crew.
We’re doing our best to keep any price increases as low as humanly possible. No markup at all is in the increase. Just enough to cover the actual tariffs and inflation as best we can.
We, as consumers, are going to have to bear the burden of these tariffs. The silliness that comes out of Washington about someone else paying them not withstanding.
I wish it weren’t true, but inflation is here and just getting started.
Your wish is our command, @darrenv1070. All PMGs are built right here in good old Boulder. As I mentioned earlier. That, unfortunately, doesn’t stop the world economy from raising prices to us.
I picked up my FR5s and the rest of my Stellar gear used from TMR, and I’m really glad I managed to snag everything when I did. Thankfully, I got the Airlens new before all this mess started, so I should be set for the foreseeable future. It’s a real shame one person managed to bring this pain on an entire nation.
Thanks Paul for your postings. For those who put down a deposit will the original price on the PMG gear be honored?
