BHK 300 , Stellar M700, or Benchmark AHB2 with DynAudio Contour 60's + Power Consumption

Speakers are Magnepan. PSA DAC and Pre. Had the DAC Jr before Sr. Better noise floor with the Sr.
especially with low sensitivity of these speakers.
The Benchmark combo as I had mentioned is best
in this department, just love the sound of the PSA gear. Another note, I had two versions of the Benchmark DAC/Pre with sonic improvement with each model, but greatest jump in sound was with
PSA DAC Sr., Snowmass software upgrade. Nice to get a new DAC without paying for one.

I got a Pass x350.8 cause I am scared of tubesā€¦and I do love ps audio stuff, but a man sometimes has to draw a line somewhere!!

Thatā€™s exactly where I am @Veneet. The X350.8 is a wonderfull amp designed by a wonderfull mind. I had several XA amps in the past. But now I decided to cross my line and order two BHK250ā€™s for biamping my Conquistar speakers. After watching uncle @Paul and uncle @BHK on the You tube I realised there were more wonderfull minds. So I canā€™t wait to go and pick 'm up and unpack them puppies. But that tube idea keeps scaring me too, stillā€¦ :worried:

Most of my fear with tubes comes from the idea that I would spend a lot of time and money fine tuning the sound and never know if I am there yet. With solid state you have that one less worry. You still have all the power cord, speaker cable, interconnect, placement, room treatment drama that you would in either case.

LOLā€¦ Yupā€¦ And thereā€™s no cure for it. They call it ā€œaudiotismā€ā€¦ Hahaha

To quote Nelson Pass: ā€œI am centrally aware that all this is just entertainment, mine and yours. The objective needs of amplifier users are largely solved on a practical level, and as McLuhan perceptively noted, when that happens, we turn our technology into art.ā€

Let that sink in for a momentā€¦

As many others already said: none of these options in amps are wrong. Yes, the BHK are overkill for these speakers. But overkill is a valid design/choice/art form and works very well for some (me included).

Given the situation with the house a wise thing could be to find a pair of used Stallar M700. The reviews sound fantastic (I have not heard them) and they will be a huge upgrade from your current amp.

And once that setup is in place take your time to figure out everything else.

Enjoy the ride

Welcome! Iā€™ve been in the PS family for under 12 months and this forum is a great source of advice and customer service has been top notch.

I can vouch for the M700ā€™s - great amps, plenty of grunt and will effect your power bill about the same as a squirels hair dryer :smiling_imp:.

As you know you have the option of in home trials for the PS products over there in the USA so iā€™d take them up on that offer once youā€™ve got your house sorted.

All the best.
