I’m well aware of the clicking of the volume control, but what I haven’t seen a comment on is an issue with my new-to-me used BHK pre, where sometimes turning the volume control does not result in any change in level. I have to turn a number of clicks, or turn it faster, before it “wakes up” and the volume level changes. There doesn’t seem to be any impact on sound quality, but it is kind of annoying.
My BHK does not display the behavior you describe. Does the same thing happen if you adjust the volume with the remote?

Works fine with the remote. Only exhibits it with the volume control.
Mine does not do that. The only issue I have noticed is a distinct click between 52 & 53.
My BHK preamp works fine with both the volume knob and the remote. You might want to get in touch with PSA, particularly since things behave as expected when using the remote.
