Just placed the order for the Matsushita 7DJ8’s from the Parts Connection. Looking forward to trying them out in the 250.
Cheap fun! Enjoy!
Matsushita tubes just installed… Big smile

Thanks for the recommendation.

Smooth and liquid sounding with great bass impact and extension. Also super quiet. Very impressed with the sound in the first 30 mins or so of listening.
Excellent imaging, deepest soundstage yet. Very textured and articulate bass, with great overall detail, but at the same time very natural and organic sounding. I imagine these will also improve with more time on them. Great bang for buck tube upgrade.
Glad it worked out Gary
The Matsushita tubes in my 250 sound even better today after settling in a bit. Between using the Gold Lions in the preamp and the Matsushita in the amp, the sound of my system has been elevated several notches. I love the fact the sound can be tweeted and improved by simply rolling in different tubes, for a mere pittance.
Unbelievable how cavernous the soundstage is on certain recordings, like those from Andreas Vollenweider. I’m afraid I might wander in and get lost in one of the caverns.
Is it possible to use E288CC tubes in BHK300?
Hello,
Is it possible to use E288CC tubes in BHK300?
Thanks

Welcome to the community @Pawellang! Someone with experience should chime in any moment!
Yes. I ran some Siemens in there for a while and they sounded excellent.
Thank you for a fast reply.
So they did not damage anything due to higher current?
Similar specs, just a bit taller. Was a great complement to Siemens Ccas in the BHK Pre.
I just have to make sure they will not damage my amps.
They are not a recognized drop in replacement so you will have to decide on whether to take the risk based on other users since the designer is not around to answer as in the past.
Never had any issues. I trusted Brent Jessee with these, as he noted -
The filament current draw is also slightly higher but for most applications it is plug and play compatible with the 6922, 7308, Cca, or even the 6DJ8
The Matsushita 7DJ8’s continue to improve in the BHK 250. Now have around 40 hrs on them and the bass has tightened up quite a bit. At first I had to adjust the placement of my bass traps to optimize bass absorption, but have now completely removed them from behind the speakers and placed them in the opposite corners of the room to minimize bass absorption. One advantage to removing the traps from behind the speakers seems to be an increase in soundstage depth and width, perhaps due to giving the speakers more room to breathe.
With more time on the Matsushita 7DJ8’s I’ve been able to further optimize speaker setup and room treatments to fine tune my system to sound it’s best since swapping in these new tubes. It seems every time you change something in your system you don’t immediately realize it’s full potential until you’ve had time to reoptimize speaker and acoustic room treatments. I’m flabbergasted how much more I’ve been able to squeeze out of my system with just swapping out different tubes in the BHK 250.
I would like to refresh this question. Is it possible to use PCC189 in BHK amps?
I’m looking to swap out the tubes in my 300 monoblocks. The Gold Lions have about 3000 hours on them.
Without reading through the entire thread can someone please recommend to me what tubes have worked well for them over the Gold Lions.
Thanks
