Bookshelf speaker upgrade

Change of plan, Dynaudio X18’s in the house! Got a killer deal on a pair with only 10-15 hours on them. Sound really nice, but still a little green. Looking forward to breaking these bad boys in!

You can play them as loud as you wish. And they just keep on giving. The tweeter is amazing on them.

How long did it take for yours break in? There’s a little bit of tizz up top, and the bass sounds a little off at the moment. Placement isnt quite dialed in yet, but overall I’m digging them so far.

It took me around 200 hours to settle into their normal. Placement is the most important. I run them without a sub and have them about 26 inches away from the back wall. They like a wide space for better soundstage. I had them 6 ft apart from each other, but 9 ft was better. No toe in needed.

Thanks man. Funny, I have them 26 inches off the wall and about 6.5 feet apart. 7 feet will be about the best I can swing. I’ll goof around more tomorrow.

Owned Dynaudio BM5 Mk 3 ($1400/pair MSRP, active) with similar drivers but smaller cabinet, paid $850 via Amazon, nice sound but just a bit clinical. Could have lived with them for a long time until I scored JBL 708Ps.

Heard X-18 at a shop recently, very nice - being more musical they were a step up as they should be for the price difference.

Here are my S300 - they also play very well. For the price, they are absolutely fantastic
