Bridge II released!

Any difference in SQ between FLAC and WAV or AIFF? Which was with the Bridge I, because I would like to have just one music format instead of 3.(please leave transcoding on the server out of the equation). Just curious of the Bridge II has enough horse power to transcode FLAC or whatever compression the file has without loss of SQ.

How well does album art work with Bridge II (beta testers)? I have a perfectly reliable, network connected, Bridge I. It plays music without fault on my network 99.1% of the time; however, album art is less successful. Album art works well, but fails around 5% of the time. I can, and have, lived with both small problems (network issues being basically irrelevant), but always hoped album art could be more reliable. I’ve looked for some commonality between failures, but to tell you the truth, I’d rather listen to music then seriously trouble-shoot the small problem. Life is too short. But if PS Audio solved the problem with Bridge II…

Thanks, Dale

Album art works very well. For normal use I haven’t seen any issues in the last few builds. There has been, however, one or two (and I do mean one or two) cases where if I did a lot of skipping from one track to the next, and back, in a playlist the album art would get out of sync for a tune. It would clear up within the next song. I will also say this was not something everyone saw, so it could be something else in my system that caused it.

My experience is similar. Generally cover art works quite well, but I wouldn’t say it’s perfect because nothing ever is.

Thanks both. Not expecting perfect, just hoping for better. Looks like I have a realistic expectation of better.

Does Bridge II load music into ram and play from there?

B II has a digital lens with a buffer that holds a few seconds worth but does not load a whole song or playlist. It’s the same as B I in this regard, as far as I know.

magicknow said Remember when evaluating SQ of Bridge 2 that it definitively needs a good 300-400 hours of burn in to really bloom, I found the sound better than Bridge 1 on first install but was pleasantly surprised that I kept getting significant upgrades in sound over the break in period.

Presents are coming you just have to wait patiently

Thanks. Shall keep in mind.

Noting: so much burn-in… So little actual non-burn-in listening time !!!

Q: what’s the theory on the BII - is it capacitors that need to change electrically ?

will the bridge II be able control the volume of the DS?

Yes It does.

Dennis

Will there be a possibility to control the BII via IP commands instead of using the IR Remote?

The volume control is uPnp only, so if you kraft the proper uPnp command you can, but not with IP commands like Bridge I.

Dennis

Meaning that you can’t use e.g. a web browser for entering those?

Will you release these codes in an own document?

Dennis Kerrisk said Yes It does.

Dennis

Is this different from Bl ?

No you not be able to do it from a web browser.

Dennis

Does BII require the latest firmware or does 1.2.1 still work with it?

The Bridge II requires Yale.

Dennis

Dennis Kerrisk said No you not be able to do it from a web browser.

I am still puzzled why you don’t make something like this:

Classe SSP

It seems a bit outdated in 2015 not to be able to use your iDevice. Hopefully you will consider it for the outboard version of the Bridge.

You can use your iPad or android device to change the volume, from uPnp control point software. But not from a web browser.

Dennis

OK, but no dedicated app in the pipeline?
