BridgeII now "seen" as CONVERS CDMCM-210 in Sense App

While CDM-4140 allows MQA full rendering up to 8x (384kHz), the spec seheet says:

core decoding only is optional

So, Roon “core decoding” might still be needed. If CDM-4140 is implemented and none of its features cancelled (due to impact on sound quality), then there would be native support for Airplay 2, Tidal Connect, Spotify, Roon and naturally DLNA.

You are correct, no app was to be provided. As I understand it all the MConnect apps are DLNA compliant. MConnect Control, for use with the Bridge, I believe is intended for use only with Convers products (which is why it is free). MConnect Player, which you have to pay for, is for use with other DLNA compliant products. I assumed this would be one option for controlling the AirLens. What inspired my comment on upgrading the app was the new, to me at least, revelation that the AirLens will use a Convers “engine”. I always thought PS Audio was completely designing the entire device. As I understood it, even if the AirLens had no Convers “engine” the “Player” app would have worked with it, as would Bubble UPnP, Foobar, etc. Sorry to drag this on so long …

I remember reading a long time ago that PSA had decided to move away from Convers products due to some issue with the Bridge (lack of support, lack of customization, something – I can’t remember the details). But if they are now satisfied that Convers will be a reliable partner, then it makes sense not to reinvent the wheel.

And, of course, if the AirLens is DLNA certified, then a variety of control points are available, including my favorite, Linn Kazoo.
